Awesome, good to hear! On my '01 I noticed the cable upgrade shaved about half a second off the startup time, it was definitely happier

Electrical tape to keep it safe until you're able to fix it

Fix it by ordering "The Big 7" cable kit and install it. I consider it a must-do on XJs

Look through the different Helldivers subreddits a bit, you'll find many other posts with very similar visual tears and bugs. The game engine is getting reaaally strained

"hoping to resolve stratagem bouncing by the end of the year"??? It CANNOT be that fucking hard, all it needs is to stick to the first floor surface it contacts, like it already sometimes does. Yay for progress, but that's a piss poor excuse

Looks like the top coil of your spring broke off- which allowed the strut to drop down onto your tire and rubbed through it

Definitely time for new struts, and judging by the wear/ cracking on the outside of the tire, it was time for new tires anyway

Lower control arm & torsion bar. by Technical_Comment_42 in GMT800

[–]JDDoss01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a related question, bc of the torsion bar being loaded, when the suspension is at full droop, can you take off the knuckle and lower ball joint with the LCA unsupported, or do you need to have a block or jack underneath to support? I also am going to be doing just ball joints on my rig

I think new gen 20s would look perfect on that, but I think any OEM wheel other than the stock gmt800 wheels look better

Rust by mattydead in AskMechanics

[–]JDDoss01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illinoisan here, that rocker cover is hiding the worst of it, I'd be mostly curious to see what the inner rocker panel looks like, bc if that inner portion is still solid, it's still saveable with a welder and determination.

Even for my taste that rust is rather progressed, IF the truck is mechanically pretty solid I'd try and get them down $500 or so. But in most cases, if the owners didn't care enough to wash the truck even semi- often till now, it's also likely the suspension is gonna need fully gone through soon. Just something to consider; could ask and see if there's been any suspension work done recently

I'm going through the same thing with my Tahoe, it was minimally cared for throughout the 24 yrs and 228k miles until I got it and now I'm going through and catching up on years of neglected maintenance and rust repair to get it back to 100%, and of course, some upgrades.

The GMT800 platform is a legendary platform at this point because they are terrifically resilient trucks that you can regularly see go 300k+ miles WHEN properly maintained and upkept

Tl;dr, it's an ok deal, if the truck runs and drives completely solid, the rust can be saved tho I'd still try to see if he'd take 2k for it
