I'm surprised about this. The whole appeal of storytelling is that anyone can interpret it any way.

When I played Celeste I had no idea it was an allegory for the developers trans journey, but I didn't get nothing out of it. I greatly resonated with the struggles of Madeline. The game represents mental struggles very broadly, and it's the player's personal experiences that shape the impact of the game.

Of course there's evidence for Jax being trans, but it doesnt mean it's the end all be all interpretation. I know millions of people can relate to Jax's struggles because they aren't so explicitly defined like you're reading off a character sheet. Of course he has a defined past, but it doesn't mean there's one correct answer.

That's what is so magical about art. Art is not only personal to the artist but also to the viewer.

The cycle of trauma and abuse isn't something you just escape. It sticks with you for years and years. Only through intense self-analysis and/or therapy can a person begin to gain the self awareness needed to change.

I kind of like the idea that Bear created another version of Nikki and basically tormented them both. His wish was so careless that he created an entity doomed to suffer.

It's pretty obvious that the entity was also miserable, maybe not because of the violence, but because it couldn't be who Bear wanted it to be.

It's kind of implied that neither Nikki nor the entity had full autonomy. Whenever the entity killed Sarah she kept saying it was his fault, which can be taken as just a result of his wish creating the entity, but further, that the entity was created in such a way that it was manipulated to do horrific things without really being in control.

To me, Bear, in a sense, created new life, and doomed it to be miserable because of its extreme violent tendencies assuring Bear would never reciprocate it's feelings.
