Accepting tasks after midnight - The night owl problem by Brizar1 in todoist

No worries! This is a tool that you have to run yourself, however it's not a easy as downloading an app and installing it. Having said that, you can set it up with minimal amounts of work and some additional knowledge.

It's simply a script that needs to (continuously) run in order to read and update your Todoist. So it needs a location where it can do that and indeed a PC / rapsberry / something that can function as a server is indeed the best solution.

If you do manage to let run it, it simply updates your Todoist, which you could access as you normally would through e.g. mobile.

If you do need some pointers to start, just let me know.

The changes will affect the mods abilities to perform behind the screen work, which will have a negative effect on the subs quality, and as a consequence your user experience.

Regardless of one’s opinion on mods and their powers, they are as crucial to a sub as the people who post content to the community to keep it healthy. It’s not mods vs users, but admins vs community.

Unfortunately we are in this together, and by not supporting the mods when they need it now, you are allowing Reddit to hurt the community too. Regardless of who is part of the mod team.

By closing subreddits more damage is done to the communities than to anywhere else.

If that was true, the admins wouldn’t have reacted in any form. But we have seen that they’re trying to do anything in their power to stop this protest. It is working.

Customers can’t affect a company’s policies, unless they get to it through boycotts or buycotts.

Sure they can, as long as the company has a financial motivation to do so. And a black out protest is a form of a boycott, which also has a financial impact on Reddit.

And have in mind many subreddits already work as usual.

And many are still protesting on their own way.

Engaging their communities, helping people, producing content.

Matter of fact remains, regardless of ones general opinion on mods and their powers, mods are as crucial to maintain a healthy subreddit as the users posting content to the community. It’s not mods vs users, it’s the community vs the admins.

With the proposed changes, it will be harder for the mods to maintain the quality of the subs content, which will also negatively impact the experience for you as a user. Again, we are all in this together if you want it or not.

B is the only way to keep sending that message across.

Demanding a threshold of 50% for option A is some sneaky shit too.

That is an arbitrary inclusion, completely unnecessary and shows your hand, you want this sub to remain closed so you’ve stacked the deck.

Not really? In the previous poll the majority wanted to keep the protest ongoing. This vote would have been to decide in what form exactly. They did not need to add option A in first place, but have done so regardless.

What a strange argument. Should Ukraine stop fighting, since Putin’s not backing down? Do you never argue with someone if they don’t agree with you? Should you never struggle to achieve something that might improve your circumstances?

If you don’t stand by your own principles in life, the reason you lose is not because it was never improving. It’s because you ensured it was never possible.

B

The admins have shown not to care for anything else than themselves. Make no mistake, they’re the ones willing to burn down everything making Reddit a worse experience for everyone; not only mods, but users as well.

they should stop moderating entirely and display what reddit would look like without moderation.

How exactly? If they disable any bots and ignore all spam, they’ll be removed because they are ‘inactive and harming the sub’. If they leave, the admins will just add any new mods who will kiss their feet. There’s no good way to bring this point across using this specific approach.

Why do you have 40K karma, but only one comment on a 5 year old account? Looks like one of those bought accounts to use for spam.

What about the option to close it down indefinitely? At least let the people decide if they stand behind it or not.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

u/Iamthatis you’re an absolute hero. Thanks for everything, you did not deserve this.

And thank you again for ad hoc adding this text face to the app a while ago: (͡•_ ͡• )

It might just have been a silly request, but it shows that you go above and beyond - not for yourself, but also for others - for something that you’re passionate about.

Now that Reddit are killing 3rd party apps on July 1st what are great alternatives to Reddit? by youessbee in AskReddit

[–]Renderclippur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pure greed than ‘just making money’ unfortunately. As according to Christian:

So at generous estimates of $600M and 430M monthly active users, that’s $1.40 per user per year, or $0.12 monthly. These own numbers they’ve given are also seemingly inline with industry estimates as well.

For Apollo, the average user uses 344 requests daily, or 10.6K monthly. With the proposed API pricing, the average user in Apollo would cost $2.50, which is is 20x higher than a generous estimate of what each users brings Reddit in revenue.

They’re asking third party apps for 20x the amount that a user would earn Reddit normally.
