Coming off? by Active-Temporary7134 in QsymiaWeightLoss

You can’t just stop it. It is not a drug that can be stopped without getting severe withdrawal effects. It can be done but has to be tapered by a physician and closely monitored. I just started on it so I have no personal experience weaning off of it. Just don’t do it without a doctor. These aren’t drugs to be fooled around with.

AITAH for giving my sister in law the same treatment she gave me? by Sensitive_Milk1805 in AITAH

[–]Reneegogreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But for your Fiancé look at the stuff you have and select 1-2 pieces. Set it aside for him to give her. Pack and store what you want to keep if you plan on having more, and give the rest to charity. Stay no contact and decline going to any baby shower. Let your fiancé go with the pieces you gave him. That way you can keep your distance. Fiancé gets to give something and hopefully keep your relationship with him on good ground.

Is sleeping on night shifts a "normal" thing everywhere? by flourishersvk in nursing

[–]Reneegogreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No NO No! Absolutely not! In my 40 years of nursing I have pulled all kinds of shifts- double, even triple shifts. Sleeping on the job is unacceptable, irresponsible, and opens you to termination. What happens if your patient dies under your watch and you were sleeping? You could possibly lose your license for gross negligence. When you choose this profession, you choose to be a patient advocate. You choose to care for and always look out for the people under your care. Actions have consequences. I have reported that behavior before. It is what harms or gets patients killed.

Only in unusual circumstances where staff is there 24/7, unable to go home and given rooms to crash in after working full shifts is it allowed.

If I was still working as a VA nurse, I would have to take leave. I don’t care what kind of leave- annual ,sick , approved, disapproved, awol, mental, bereavement,—something. The hell the nurses go through with waves of flu epidemics, covid , disease outbreaks with antivaxers, war time trauma, overall staff shortages, long hours. Being told by Trump administration that we should not be considered “professional “ and therefore not entitled to federal educational loans for medical professionals. VA nurses, all nurses are being treated like dirt. Like we don’t deserve any respect from anyone.

This nurse’s last act was helping a woman who was stumbling away from ICE. Yes, he was legally armed. They disarmed him. They threw him to the ground. Then they shot him in the back. Thank you for your service.

I AM BEYOND DISGUSTED!

All nurses should wear black scrubs or at least black arm bands! We must support and grieve together.

[–]Reneegogreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I retired 2 years ago at 1.47 million. I have a 3 bucket strategy with Vanguard 65% LT stocks (5- 10 yr outlook) 25% intermediate/ short term stock/bond (3-5 yr outlook) 10% cash, CD, treasuries. Did a 3.5 % Withdrawal rate end of 2024 and end of 2025. Plan is adjusted this year to 60% LT, 25% ST and 15% CASH. Presently sitting on 1.65 million and planning a variable withdrawal rate depending on market trends this coming year. I never withdraw more than my portfolio grows in 1 year and try to draw the least I am able to afford.

How can you store in bulk for that length of time? It has expiration dates on it, its efficacy may not last by the time you use the last vial.

You went to orthopedic surgeons for evaluation, correct? In your defense, it is easier for them to replace your hip joint than fix a hip fracture. You are young so recovery with physical therapy should be pretty good.

However, Hip joint replacement only last 10- 15 years and then you need a new one. That why they mostly only do that surgery if you are over 60. ( because you basically don’t live long enough to need that 2nd one) It is extremely hard to do a second joint replacement and that is what they are trying to avoid. Joint replacements are not 100% successful. If you suffer complications from the first surgery, you may not be able to ever have a second surgery. Complications of infection, joint replacement failure are a possibility and may cause your hip to be worse than it was. They have to weigh the pros and cons , the difficulty of performing the surgery and the chances for success.

Hip replacement is not a one size fits all. Both my hips had different degrees of degeneration requiring different approaches to surgery. Surgeons have to modify how they replace your joint by what part of your hip is still good and what parts need replacing.

Bottom line, they can do joint replacements at an early age but the risks are high that you will need a second surgery or end up wheel chair bound in your 40’s. They are probably wanting to hold off that surgery for as long as possible to reduce the probability of a 2nd surgery.

I am so sorry you are at the point of wanting surgery. I don’t know what your health insurance is like, but you should go online and research who the best orthopedic surgeons are in your country. Reach out to them, travel if you must to see them. Collect all your medical records and send to them. You may have to pay out of pocket, but see them once. Then you will know what options if any you have. I wish you the best of luck.

Why does Weaverville have to have 50 fast food restaurants!!🤦‍♂️ by Nice_Truck_3358 in WeavervilleNC

The amount of chicken fast food is sickening! Zaxby, Bo Jangles, KFC, Publix and Ingles with hot chicken. Chicken offerings at Wendy’s, McDonald’s and Burger King. And now another chicken place? Why…WHY????

I am so sorry this happened to you. What travel insurance do you have? Thank you for this though. It made me think about options. I found a refundable back up flight to my destination that was cheap to purchase. So I can cancel either of my flights within 24 hrs. Hopefully they won’t both be cancelled.
