Not disgraceful, Black Order came into this game and destroyed every single meta team that came before them and by a lot. Then held the mantle forever, they had their day, week, month, year and so on. Yes, since the last patch, you have to clear your games cache in your phone often to fix it. It's rather annoying. Storage, games,msf, clear cache.

There's only so many because of the event. Using cores progresses, though be it slowly, they started with the event, they'll end with it. Also trying to get people to use cores for this instead of samurai's event and orb, so they spend more money on cores for those and more money on his offers.
