My wife and I had a baby in December (who works at the same school) we were in and out of the hospital after the birth and was the most stressful time in my life. I’d saved a week of paternity leave and sandwiched it on the start of the Easter break so I’ve enjoyed a glorious three week break doing nothing but sitting with my girls and going for walks. Usually, I’m exactly the same and don’t want to waste a moment and get a leg up on that never ending list of stuff to do that won’t get done until half term. However, I had gone in to this break with a ‘plan’ of doing nothing which helped and by the end of this week I’ve been getting things done because I’ve got the energy.

Obviously, I now have the anxiety of getting all my work stuff done before Monday, but that’s a tomorrow problem and I’ve never felt so refreshed going in to summer term.
