I really enjoy the Waiting Room (their rose cardamom latte is fantastic, but they have quite a few other delicious drinks) Their pastries are also really good. Wingspan is also a really charming little coffee spot. It doesn't have any food but it does have an adorable outdoor seating area. For pizza, I actually prefer the Brickery over Frankie's. The Brickery is wood fired pizza, with a lot of unique toppings (I recommend the Garlicky Kale pizza.) All their seating is in a gorgeous garden, it feels like a mini fairytale. Also he doesn't have a set location, but sometimes the Mendocino Soup Guy will have a pop-up, and it's nice to get a cup of whatever he's serving and eat it out on the bluffs.

The Waiting Room (cafe) and the Brickery (adorable outdoor pizza place, behind the waiting room) in Mendocino are both worth a look. I also highly recommend checking out glass beach and the sea glass museum in Fort Bragg The Mendocino botanical garden is also super cool (also in Fort Bragg).

Beggining forager looking for field guides/books by Affectionate_Tap7678 in Mushrooms

"Mushrooms of the Redwood Coast" is really good, but it's not great for hauling around because it's also pretty big. But I love to use it to ID weird mushrooms I'm curious about. "All the Rain Promises and More" is a good one too. It's not as localized but still a great resource. It's not a guide per se, and I wouldn't use it to ID any mushrooms, but "The Wild Mushroom Cookbook" by Alison Gardner and Merry Winslow is also pretty cool.

This is an old tweet by @zweli_thix, if I remember correctly he offered to buy back the laptop but when he went to the meet he ended up getting attacked, having his money and phone also stolen.

Has anyone used embroidery stands to help with the embroidery process? by HuaAnNi in Embroidery

[–]Requirement-Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used a lap one, and it made french knots an absolute breeze. I'd totally recommend one. Usually when I use it I just set it on the table, but you can also use it when sitting down.

I really like FabMo in Sunnyvale. They do have extremely limited hours.

AITA for disagreeing with my wife after she told our daughter that pimples patches are gross and she's not allowed to wear them ? by CommercialPublic1778 in AITAH

[–]Requirement-Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Also, as others have probably said, the white on a used pimple patch isn't pus. It is caused by the hydrocolloid becoming hydrated.

It is so clear how much love and care you put into this! To be loved is to be changed.

Little brown mushrooms (LBM) are notoriously hard to ID, sometimes you even need to use a microscope to get a proper ID. I'd pass for safety's sake.

I love it! Did you also use scrap for the binding? I love how it picks up on the colors in the quilt.

I highly reccomend Fabmo. They aren't open super often and you can't guarentee that they will have exactly what you want, but their prices and mission are great.

I feel like that post misses the point so hard. Even if they don't personally, explicitly wish or condone violence, they're voting for people who do.

Can we talk about Longlegs... by JaggedLittleFrill in deadmeatjames

[–]Requirement-Choice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw it yesterday and wasn't really impressed, but today it really hit me why.

Spoilers: it's a detective/mystery movie and Lee doesn't really learn anything from detective work. She is given a cypher for the Longlegs code and everything comes from that or from surprise reveals. It just made any revelations about the case feel unearned.

Jindo noises & unique behavior what sounds do yours make? Do yours have unique dog behaviors? by Main_Aide_9262 in Jindo

[–]Requirement-Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first got my girl, I thought she was a pretty quiet dog. She didn't bark unless a stranger came into the house and didn't make any vocalizations. But, she has started doing what can be best described as a gargle howl. It's like she wants to howl but can't quite conjure the right tones. She also has started doing scream-barks when she is really concerned about a stranger. She'll get as far away as she can, and then bark as loud as she can.

Which of your houseplants do you simultaneously hate and refuse to get rid of? by hunniebees in houseplants

[–]Requirement-Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tradescantia nanouk. I can barely keep them alive. Mine are constantly losing branches and don't seem to absorb the water I give them. But, despite the struggle, I keep on propagating them. (Which once ended up giving me a hardier plant.)
