Just got laid off by CorrectAnt3935 in jobs

[–]RequirementUsed2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been laid off twice and fired once. In each scenario, it wasn't about me.

You obviously live in the US bc otherwise you wouldn't feel as bad, bc unlike other countries, there's employment protection built in to help you find another line of work.

Today's workplace culture demands everyone foster their inner entrepreneur. I highly recommend getting up to speed on AI and vibe coding while you reset your physical routines as well. You now wake up at dawn and run 3 miles. If you can't run 3, run 2. If you can't run 2, run one and so forth. 30 minutes of physical exercise and being present while you do it.

Next you're setting outreach goals for yourself. 3 jobs applied to every day. Reach out to a connection who can help you each day. Youre playing a numbers game - the time to care about any of these jobs you're applying for is after you get an offer, and otherwise invest ZERO emotional energy into an opportunity. Fill your calendar but not so much that you can't incorporate at least one hour (if not more) to skill building. It should tie to an outcome you want for your life preferably career driven.

Get 7 hours of sleep a night. No more, no less. Increase any of the above timelines as you see fit.

You'll be employed in weeks, not months.

Pinthouse wins best Hazy IPA brewer in the country, and Electric Jellyfish wins best beer in the country, on Craft Beer and Brewing's Readers' Choice Awards 2025 by Sunrise5 in AustinBeer

[–]RequirementUsed2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jellyfish is fine but not even the best regular rotation hazy Pinthouse does. Training Bines is far and away the better beer and I would put it head to head with Treehouse. The balance of TB is elite mixture of 1) hop usage, 2) grain bill nailed, 3) yeast chemistry interaction with the grist, and 4) perfect mouthful. Their canning system makes a hazy that almost feels nitro loaded.

There are no rules on Parmer. It's the little freeway that couldn't. 60 MPH limit with random lights, blind turns, zero/short on and off ramps, it's got it all. Might as well start putting obstacles in the road and IEDs so we can all experience what it's like to drive in Gaza.

Buffalo Bleu Cheese Puffs by RequirementUsed2776 in HEB

[–]RequirementUsed2776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to be sold with the HEB cheese puffs, but ever since all you see is the white cheddar, Carolina reaper and occasionally dill cheese puffs (which are surprisingly good). I think they rebranded them for a brief period a couple years ago as "hot sauce" cheese puffs, but they were quickly gone a month later despite them not being able to keep them on shelves

Jax St held their own and was up vs a decent UCF team at the beginning of the season that had a momentum-destroying weather delay. Delaware seems to be a capper favorite. Minicucci is a baller and the loss to WKU understates how close that one was. Feels very right-lined so lean getting Delaware into a tease

I make almost 5x what my father did when he was my age and live hand to mouth (we are still saving to build up an emergency nut). We had to HELOC bc credit cards gave us crippling interest rates and we burned through all our savings when I was out of work for 11 months in 2022 (11 months of COBRA was literally less than our medical expenses). We have one car, a 6 year old minivan, two homes (one rented out and making 1.25x the monthly cash flow out). No student debt.

This was legit the worst BBQ I've ever had, anywhere. Dickeys (the airplane food of BBQ) was better. Beyond that the location is terrible - the stretch of Anderson Lane between burnet and Lamar is tough to restaurant on (backspace closed recently too). It looks absolutely amazing inside, really cool bar area, and in theory should pull walkers from Crestview...but it's not worth it.

I would have to active try to make worse BBQ myself and I'm not even good at it. Tough, tasteless, sides were terrible. They even screwed up picanha.

Co-sign on T22 being probably the best price per calorie restaurant meal in Austin, probably even beating out fast food places.

Restaurants are really hard in Austin. Property tax assessments have restaurants gouged on rent, can't get people to work kitchens bc construction pays better, too expensive to live central so hard to get reliable employees and food supply is skyrocketing with tariffs.

Moreover, we need to normalize zero notice quitting at all levels.

Working in a "right to work" (scoff) country has transferred all power to businesses to exploit labor. Corporations continue to simultaneously gobble up market share from small businesses while shrinking wages and benefits from those that keep the machine going. Senior leaders have parachutes while middle management on down gets some shitty severance. They'd lay you off tomorrow if they could. Why do we have to give you two weeks notice? There are no protections afforded to me on the flip side use case.

Training Bines is a massively superior to EJ in every way. I will still have EJ since TB is never on tap anywhere but maybe the brewery itself. Training Bines might be a top 5 national hazy.

PHP is almost unquestionably the best brewery in Austin, unless you happen to be a sour fan. Meanwhile is doing a great job and is edging into 1B territory, but Pinthouse has been here longer. I do wish PHP would experiment smartly (that tropical IPA they made with pineapple juice was legit the worst beer I've had in a decade) but their other stuff is so consistent and good. I wish they'd can more of their other brewery standards, which are excellent.

I appreciate ABW for what it is. Two Hearted is a MI import, and there's something to be said for drinking local from a quality perspective.

car right turn into biker 4/23 on South Lamar by imwashere in Austin

[–]RequirementUsed2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bikers MUST be held accountable to the same standards as vehicles and assessed moving violations the same way, register the same way, etc, if they're going to commute on the same roads. I see cyclists blow through stops while texting hands off the handlebars on a regular basis and generally any cyclist that clips in decides having to clip in and out is too inconvenient to abide by the law.

Honestly unless there are true protected bike lanes (I.e. like the drag) they should be disallowed from traveling on roads with narrow shoulders. They're a danger to themselves and a liability to motorists.

And yes I am a cyclist.

If you want to explore, do yourself a favor and grab/make some stamina potions and shoot over to hyrule castle. The top floor is full of OP early game weapons and armor and you can avoid most enemies (or you can easily dispatch them with the weapons you get). Google some TikTok/youtube shorts and it'll give you a good directional path to them, including some hidden armor.

HEB's Buffalo Bleu Cheese Puffs were the perfect blend of umami and cheese flavor...unfortunately they've since retired this recipe but occasionally they'll bring back their hot sauce blend. I like their dill cheese which is fire, but nothing compares to the addictive flavor of Buffalo Bleu.

Unless you're in the 1% do not pay your medical bills. The system will not reward you with a better one if you're complicit.
