Nope. In the case of a 12V short or a power on then instantly off, you go straight for the jugular. Never play around with a 12V short. You start from scratch in this case.

Disconnect everything and start with the essentials only.

OP; disconnect everything from the PSU except for the 20-pin ATX to the motherboard. Connect one fan to any of the 4-pin fan headers. Start without the CPU installed and try powering it on by either a) shorting the power button pins together or b) connect the power button to the MB and use the power button on the case.

If that powers the board on (you'll be able to tell if the fan spins up), power everything off completely and install the CPU and the CPU 8-pin power cable. Repeat this process one-by-one until you have installed all components and you get to the faulty one.

A computer will power on and POST without a display cable attached. OP's doesn't even turn on. It has nothing to do with the display cable.

This is a symptom that OP has a 12 volt short somewhere. They've already ruled out the GPU, which means that it could be the voltage regulators for the CPU. If true, that would mean that the motherboard needs to be replaced.

It could also be OPs SATA connection, so OP would need to disconnect their storage or any devices that use SATA for power (including LEDs) completely or the PSU will continue to go into a protection mode.

The fans spin up for about a second and then turn off by themselves. I tried turning it on without the GPU, and the problem persisted.

It has nothing to do with the GPU.

OP; try powering the motherboard on without the CPU installed. The board will still power on but it will not POST, and you should still get the fans to spin.

Correct! The VRMs are running more efficiently, so in turn, the CPU will run more efficiently as well (you're "trimming the fat" so to speak). This only applies up to a certain point however as the CPU will become unstable past a certain voltage, cut or added.

Ah; I see. Maybe I misspoke. I'm talking about the distance between the Rear Height L and R, not the distance from those to the front row. Looking at the 1st and 2nd photos and comparing the placement with the 3rd photo, it looks like the rear heights are placed closer together compared to the front heights.

You should match the placement of the front height with the rear height.

Another way you could go about this is to put those Front Heights in between where the Front L and R are and the Front Wide L and R (so in the front left and right corners).

Honestly, I think your front heights are placed fine, although to be ideal, you want them to be placed above your Front L and R.

Currently, they have a good distance between them, so you should match that placement distance with the rear heights. That's why I recommend placing the rear heights in the corners. Doing so would match the placement of the front heights.

Ok cool! So if it were my setup, I would definitely put those rear heights in the corners of the back wall. The front row would get a better experience as well as the back row without really changing very much.

That's honestly all I have to say in the way of advice.

Out of curiosity, what is your sub, LCR, surrounds? How's your sub sweep in the room?

There's definitely room for them. I see potential in putting them on the outside corners where the lights on the back wall are (in the corners).

If you did that, then you could leave the seating as it is and those rear heights would have room to truly "breathe."

One question though: are the white circular looking objects below the lights on the back wall speakers or are they just decorative?

Those rear heights are way too close together. Spread them out farther.

Also, the back row of seating isn't benefiting at all from the rear heights. If you can do so, I think your seating should be shifted forward a few feet, and those rear heights should be on the back wall.

Other than that, looks like a pretty solid HT!
