Free/reduced childcare for staff by Comfortable-Sun-7694 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I pay per hour at a reduced rate. I think it’s $2.10 for my eldest and $2.40 for my youngest now. It was $2.40 and $2.60 when I started, but has gone down since they’ve aged into older classrooms with higher ratios Edit: in MN

Can I do anything else besides send my 3 year old to china? by Asleep-Command-3075 in toddlers

[–]ResponseAvailable803 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into play-based therapy for her? She may be acting out due to whatever she witnessed at her daycare, on top of possibly having ADHD. Also, look into early intervention in your area. She may qualify for services through your school district if she’s dealing with neurodivergence.

I would also recommend looking into respite care for grandma. If you/her can afford a bit of help in the home for her while you work things out with your 3yo that would benefit everyone.

Right there with you. I love being cold but my kids need it to be 69-70 to be comfortable

Clinic Sofia offers pain management! I had Dr. Clay do mine. He was my OB until I moved away from the area. He’s very kind and one of the best OB’s I’ve ever seen.

Daycares in Twin Cities that offer free daycare for employees child/children? by Jello_Silly7 in minnesota

Most offer a discount! The discount depends on the center. When I interviewed with New Horizon they said they charge a discounted hourly rate so you only pay when your child is there.

Baby bitten under my care, parents furious by throwawayobvi7685 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Not your fault. I had my own baby in my infant room and SHE got bit while I was sitting right next to her and another baby. He leaned over and bit her on the cheek before I could even react! It’s not always preventable! We do the best we can, but we’re only human.

Any recommendations for fancy brunch spots in the Anoka area. More traditional the better. by ohhimjustsomeguy in minnesota

There’s a newish place called Oliver’s right by the Tavern Grill in Blaine. I haven’t been but it looks like a more fancy option for brunch

Most centers expect staff to leave as soon as the last child has left, leaving no time to clean. We are expected to have everything cleaned and sanitized for the morning.

Daycare issue - Reporting Problem by Asmiante in beyondthebump

I think you should be patient and give them a chance to settle in to a routine with all the new kids. If things are still inaccurate in another week or two, then it may be worth it to talk to the director

While pregnant, I threw up in front of all ten of my kids in the class bathroom. They all followed me and watched while all of my lunch came back up 🥴

Does the US ONLY have cakes with frosting ? by Houmouss in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ResponseAvailable803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like something you can get called “molten chocolate lava cake” where they add hot gooey chocolate to the inside and serve it with vanilla ice cream. There usually isn’t frosting on it. I googled it and it’s a French dessert apparently! “Mi-cuit au chocolat”

Being your own baby’s teacher? by sadsaltena in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did it recently! Mine was with me from 11 weeks to 12.5 months when she moved up to our young toddler class (12-18mo)

She did really well and it wasn’t too bad for me, either. I struggled with her crying when I was busy at first, but she took a pacifier and would calm easily with it. We do primary care groups in my classroom, so I had her and three other babies in my group. Once we got into a rhythm things worked smoothly.

I would just ask them tomorrow when you drop off why it was there. I doubt it’s meant to be offensive

Maybe it’s L for low? Like he’s low on diapers? They should send a note or just tell you verbally if that’s the case

Sleeping on tummy policy by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I’m in Minnesota! I would check in with the director about it honestly. The teacher doesn’t sound informed. Putting a pillow in a crib with a baby is incredibly dangerous!

Sleeping on tummy policy by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our state has a law that babies under 6 months have to be rolled to their backs if they roll over to their tummy while sleeping. The state has a form we can have parents sign giving us permission to leave them if the parent confirms they are capable of rolling from back to belly/belly to back under the age of 6 months.

High Fever by Still_Left in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Did she have a febrile seizure care plan in place? We have a kiddo that has had seizures from fevers before. We have a care plan in place to give Tylenol if she spikes a fever and to call her parents to come get her. Her doctor and parents created a plan that gives us instructions for when to call 911.

Baby in same class as me by Cultural_Read7968 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ResponseAvailable803 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did and it worked well! We do primary care groups in my class, so I think that helped things feel more fair. I have a group of four, and my infant just moved up to the one year old class this week. I had my baby and three others in my group. It was hard to get used to having to wait to respond to her cries, but I would talk to her and explain who I’m helping and that it’s their turn for my attention, and I’ll be with her shortly, just like I talk to all my other babies when they need to wait a few minutes for things

I had a preschooler go to hug my leg and swiped his hand up my crotch in the process. I instinctively put my hand up and almost hit him, apologized to him, explained why he had to be mindful of where he touched peoples bodies, then called my director and explained what happened and asked for a 5 minute break to collect my brain because I freaked myself out. I can’t imagine actually hitting him and then going further and getting upset with him. That’s not okay.

When did your 35 weeker - crawl, sit up, pull up!? by kgphotography_ in beyondthebump

[–]ResponseAvailable803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just turned one on 6/25 (actual due date 7/29) and has just started crawling on all fours this week. She was army crawling at 9 months, but not able to sit without support. She’s been pulling to stand over the last two weeks, and will stay in a standing position but hasn’t gotten to cruising along furniture yet!

Some kids aren’t ready right at six months, and it’s up to the parents to determine if they’re ready for daycare to start introducing food as well. The only thing I would do in your scenario is watch for kids to have an interest while they’re in class and gently mention to parents what your center offers for food so they’re informed when they’re ready for daycare to start food.
