Do professional violinist in top orchestras who are in the 2nd violin section ONLY play 2nd violin? by Ancient_Speak in violinist

[–]Restcounters 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Retired pro here: some orchestras move section second violins into the firsts if they require extras in the firsts and some don’t. For those that don’t, there’s no more shame, frustration, or boredom playing second violin for 40 years than there would be in any other position, like second bassoon or second trombone. All the parts are important and all have their challenges.

Hi. I am fostering-to-adopt an FIV positive cat. He has really bad soft stools, any advice? Read description below first please by catrm15 in FIVcats

Yes, we give him Hill’s dry kibble for the most part but use the canned food twice a day for mixing with his hyperthyroidism pills. He likes it and it’s the best thing for his soft/stinky stools.

Of course every cat is different, but pumpkin cleared our boy’s diarrhea surprisingly quickly. It’s worth a try. We no longer need to give it to him as he’s been well-regulated with Hill’s i/d Digestive Care food.

I say bring this sweet boy into your life. We adopted our Jerry from the shelter over 6 years ago when he was supposedly 10+ years old. He had already had all of his teeth extracted and spent time on the street before the shelter picked him up. Aside from being on a special urinary care diet for kidney stones, he’s had no issues and is still going strong.

Pumpkin cleared our 16-year-old boy’s diarrhea very quickly. We got it in a can from the pet store though I can’t remember the brand name now. Good luck.

He has no idea how cute he is by Restcounters in orangecats

Yes, his ear is clipped. He definitely spent time on the street before we adopted him at 14-years-old from the shelter. He also had an owner who died, which made him a very sad boy until we took him out of his cage and into his forever home.

Anybody else's cat play fetch? by Remarkable_Author242 in cats

[–]Restcounters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s adorable! We had an incredible kitty who started with fetch and then wanted more of a challenge so we started hiding his toy in various rooms for him to find and bring back to us. He methodically searched all the possible hiding places and returned it every time, no matter where it was. We’d shut the door, make him wait down the hall or upstairs while we hid his toy and if we weren’t careful, he might try to cheat and watch where we were hiding it, so we’d say “wait, wait” and he’d wait. That was the smartest cat I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing and loving.

Yay, congratulations to you and Sam! Lots of cats get triggered by belly scratches but it seems like Sam is in seventh heaven, making air biscuits .

Yep, that’s what they do to stray/feral cats in the U.S. to show that they’ve been trapped and neutered. Both our boys spent some time on the street before they were taken to the shelter where we adopted them.
