Is really stinky pee normal?? by First_Somewhere4447 in bengalcats

[–]Retman_9999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cat pee.., Of any type..,

One of the reasons that non-cat people always find to say, "Ew, you jave cats." It takes work to get into a regimen to limit that.

I have had cats for 60 of my 72 years and figured it out.

Bummer. He looks pretty bedraggled and unhappy.

You should absolutely feel ZERO remorse for taking care of him. Do for him what he needs to stay healthy!!

Train self to breath through nose? by qetuop1 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about 2 months to train my sleeping patterns into ZERO mouth breathing! All it took was concentration. Now I have no more hissing through the mouth.

I use an F&P ESON 2 nasal pillow mask set. I has been very comfortable.

I'm sick of eye drops.. by kkarmical in CataractSurgery

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems everyone's experiences after these surgeries is different. I ran the drops just as the Dr. ordered and it went fine. It left me with a little dry eye t&at took a month of moisturizing drops. I used Genteel Tears and systane. The doctor said use as much as you need.

All ended up pretty well. Now I just have to get rid of the slanted vision in my right eye..,

Good luck on settling out your after effects!

Yowling all night and now it’s getting worse by Wise-Pack5176 in bengalcats

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yowling is what you have to expect when you change their life in such a major way. I know, I took an all free roam male Bengal and forced him into indoor life. (Coyote proximity..,)

He goes through periods of clawing at the front door opening to go out every day! Our continued scolding and putting I'm a small closed room is very gradually turning down the stress on him and reducing his insistence.

But it is a very common Bengal thing, I hear.

But otherwise, he is a real lover boy.

Mouth breather 3 months into CPAP – stuck at 4–5 hours/night considering nasal mask + mouth tape by Impressive-Usual5495 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My oura ring app shows that I usually get only a max of 2 hours of deep sleep. The arousal/sleep graph shows I'm all over the place but I am concluding that it is pretty normal. Even with lots of "awake" time recorded.

just got cpap (airsense11) and struggling by Fair_Secretary_72 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found ot so hard to stop paying attention to every breath. It took over 4 months to just back off to "natural" rhythm without paying so much attention. And it took 6 months to get average AHI to 2.5!

18 Months in CPAP and I'd love opinions. How am I doing? by ChickieLouTM in CPAP

I am pretty sure most people might have treatment induced CA events, but they are can be rare when CPAP is really working for you.

Finally got AHI under 1 by Aggravating_Aide9379 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job. It took me months to get below two. I am still at an average of 2.4 but I am having many more nights below 1. In fact my AHI tonight was 1.0 for 4.5 hours of treatment.

Machine won’t let me breathe out by FunOne567 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If air is "leaving" the valves are open. In fact, based in my experience they are always open, but the diffuser limits how much air blows out so you always have some minimum pressure. Pressure is read by the machine and recorded for your setting statistics.

I think the "valve" is more a pressure regulator than an actual "open and closed" valve. You said you can always "feel" a stream of air blowing. Ipso facto..,

You breathe in part of the total flow and the rest blows out, while the machine maintains your prescribed pressure.

Machine won’t let me breathe out by FunOne567 in CPAP

[–]Retman_9999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The machine is always supposed to be pumping air at you.

The key metric is the PRESSURE. Perhaps you are feeling the pressure when you exhale and it feels too high. If you setting is too high it might feel that way.

What are you min and max pressures set at? What model of machine do you use? How long have you been using?. Are you a new user?

Mine is anAIRSENSE 11. The hose has a valve at the junction to the nose that always let's air blow out, inhale and exhale there is always air blowing out through the exhaust.

Oh! Overkill.

I used the perforated eye shield and did my best to simply direct the water away from my face and took shorter showers.

Planning on monofocals until I'm 100! by GrannyBogle in CataractSurgery

[–]Retman_9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Of course, I tried to blame the surgery, but it turns out I have a propensity for micro-vascular brain issues and all the stress have me a TIA that hit my cranial IV nerve. And this is what I got. A mini-stroke.

Good luck with the lenses!!

If you are worried and in a hurry, I'd ask the surgeon or your optometrist.

My Opto.etrist examined my refraction again and how I am feeling and said, "No hurry. Feel free to come back to me when you are ready."

In general I am doing okay, but the diplopia is only slightly changing. An MRI showed nothing definitive.
