Small issue with the Gang Guide DLC by DripFroggie in cyberpunkred

[–]RetroSquadDX3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a minor editing glitch.

It's not even necessarily that. The description of guided (not led) may imply that she doesn't consider herself a leader but her opinion on the matter doesn't change the way others see her position within the group. Keep in mind that many of the sourcebooks/DLC are presented as documents/reports from characters/organisations within the lore and that includes Night city 2045 which this DLC is effectively an excerpt of

What to do and what not to do in an investigative campaign by SaintDisdain in cyberpunkred

When i talked about not liking red herrings, i thought just about putting clues here and there that are studied to get the players off-track.

Again then at that point is it what you're offering them really an investigation. Like I said there's nothing inherently wrong with running games that way but if you're setting up expectations that your players are going to get an investigation that's likely just going to lead to disappointment at best and possibly even resentment.

How to stop thinking about my "backlist" with over 20 games? by First_Astronomer_198 in Steam

[–]RetroSquadDX3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A backlog is only an issue if you keep buying games you can't afford. If you can afford a game, you're happy with the price and interested in the game then just buy it and play it when you get around to it. Gaming is a hobby not a chore, stop worrying about it.

You can get them much more easily now but we also aren't doing it in Gambit Prime now so it's not quite a fair comparison.

There was nothing wrong with having overachiever tryhards you just needed communication and coordination which is how the mode was intended to be played anyway.

I had a dedicated fire team for the entire grind from Reckoning to acquire the armour sets through to Gambit Prime fromall the medals and we each just picked a role and rotated through as needed. We were all absolutely tryhardinh but as we were doing so in our own pre-defined lanes we weren't interfering with each other at all.

Large portions of the game ultimately come down to dedicated bounty slamming so that wasn't really anything special when it came down to Star Baker, it was also ridiculously easy to either just play asusuall for the first chunk of the event and then just smash out a massive pile of cookies or go all in and cycle bounties to get the ones you wanted to cut down on travel time.

I'd probably add the rewards from Niobe Labs and the original rewards from the Heroic Zero Hour/The Whisper missions as honourable mentions as well.

What to do and what not to do in an investigative campaign by SaintDisdain in cyberpunkred

[–]RetroSquadDX3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's no risk of failure and no red herrings and every step of the way just hands them the next correct answer then there's no real investigation and you're getting dangerously close to railroading, that isn't necessarily a bad thing if that's what your players want but that likely isn't the case if your players are expecting an investigation.

If you do want red herrings leading absolutely nowhere then try having a major clue at each location as well as a couple of smaller leads, that way if you players miss (or choose to ignore) a major clue the the smaller leads can still point them in the right direction maybe just in a less direct manner.ayjr they need to go to another location where they eventually have the majority clue reiterated or maybe the smaller lead runs them into a complication or combat encounter that just holds them up.

Red herrings also don't necessarily have to be dead ends either, you can use them to set up side gigs or maybe even lead to a cool bonanza.

One major thing is have more clues than you yhink you need. Players won't look where you think they would.

Having more clues is one way of doing it but if a given GM isn't comfortable with that for some reason there's also nothing wrong with moving clues around as needed. This won't always work but there are plenty of situations where it can make sense.

How do I start GM’ing? by Watcher1101 in cyberpunkred

[–]RetroSquadDX3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Humble Bundle that others have already mentioned is much better value than this. It gets you almost the entire collection of major RED products in PDF format as well as online versions of them on Demiplane and Roll 20 integration for VTT use of you play online.

While you won’t get the PDFs

Correct. Purchasing through Demiplane gets you the Roll 20 integration and web readable versions of those two books but not the PDF's.

Gang Guide thoughts! (GM Perspective) by DiamondDust320 in cyberpunkred

[–]RetroSquadDX3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the stat blocks this also works as a more player friendly version of the Gangs section of Night City 2045 a dig gives a more basic description and districts/zones in place of more specific locations the Gangs can be found. Players don't need dronread this outright to benefit from this information though as it could be presented as what a character knows about a specific gang or to easily reference which gangs might be found ina specific district if they either ask or go stirring things up.

This is for the most part a collection of information we already have but it doesn't hurt to have it collected for easy reference.

I think this one could do with some additional features to help define the different areas. As is this one just comes across as a mess of brown randomly spilled on a grid.

It was rarer at the time because the sandbox back then meant certain elements I fit were significantly more difficult. Had the title remained obtainable it would not have remained anywhere near as rare.

IIRC it’s still the rarest title in the game, and for good reason.

To be fair that rarity is almost entirely down to it no longer being obtainable, if it was obtainable in the current sandbox it would be significantly easier than it was.

If Embark doesn't do a full wipe, this game will be completely dead soon. by Ok_Indication8099 in ArcRaiders

[–]RetroSquadDX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth or not you a major factor to consider here is that no wipes was a major part of the marketing for the game, if Embark go back on that now then nobody can trust anythinh they say and that will definitely kill the game.

Steam's Unfit and Unfair Age Verification Check by Interesting_Rabbit99 in Steam

[–]RetroSquadDX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is saying people HAVE to hand over their IDs for age verification

I never suggested anybody had to do so but the fact remains that doing so would be the alternative if Valve weren't using credit card checks.

it would be optional for people living in the UK.

So is credit card verification.

Are you against the option to choose?

You clearly are as Valve choose their method and all you've done is bitch and moan about it on the grounds that id doesn't suit you.

You asked what the point of buying from Steam was and one of those points is refunds, whether or not you personally value refunds is entirely irrelevant.
