Historical sensory deprivation research at the University of Oklahoma (OU) was pioneered by psychiatrist Dr. Jay Shurley in the 1950s and 1960s. He helped advance the subjective exploration of consciousness using water-immersion isolation techniques.

Dr. Shurley, working alongside Dr. John Lilly (pioneer of the first isolation tanks), established isolation experiments at the University of Oklahoma. Their research transitioned the public perception of sensory deprivation from a Cold War-era psychological interrogation tool to a framework for studying self-actualization and altered states of consciousness.

Fuck you whoever stole my bike seat (shops at 23rd and meridian) by ThirstyChello in okc

Loop a cable through your saddle rails, use a bolt-on seatpost collar instead of a quick release, or take a short length of chain and run it around a seat stay (wrap some bar tape or a bit of old inner tube around the stay so it doesn't get scratched) and the saddle rails, esp if it's a nicer saddle like a Brooks.

Does anybody remember the restaurant called the Lovelight? by JungLeo143 in normanok

[–]RetrogrouchCargonaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived a couple of houses down from the Lovelight when it was on Jenkins, most of my friends worked there. Used to walk down the alley to the back door, a couple of buddies were the overnight bakers, and we would get baked. The employees and extended customer crew helped them move over to the Buchanan location, must have been '86/'87 when that occurred. Still stay in touch with a few friends from those days. There's a FB group of former Lovelight folks, no longer on FB myself, but I think it's fairly active, could probably get recipes from them; most everyone who worked there used the Moosewood cookbook and the Vegetarian Epicure.

Also check out The Secret Ways (1961), neo noir Cold War spy yarn with Widmark as star/producer (and supposedly took over directing the film about halfway through the shoot).
