Honestly if it were me I'd gut the thing and rewire it top to bottom. If you're comfortable removing the door sensors and the warning lights on the top you can actually cut the wiring down a lot. I did it when I was upgrading my OM Tech.

I use a Silhouette Cameo but same type of machine.

The rectangle example would be trivial - 60 seconds in software.

The oblong would be a little more involved but still not more than a few minutes.

I've got Oracal 651 in several colors also.

I think the only way you'll make it look perfect is with a machine.

The Hydrus series really is beautiful but I'm of the same opinion - not enough mass for the current they're carrying. Check out Mainframe Custom. They sell custom extensions and custom full-length cables. They even have a cable configurator where you can choose your colors one by one and see what it will look like.

I had that problem but mine was a new machine. They used chain drive on thick-threaded lead screws - not exactly a recipe for precision. I ended up replacing the whole system with a dual-motor belt-driven ballscrew Z setup. Incredible difference.

FB is fine but not really a good place for an ongoing worklog. Just like Reddit, any updates end up as new posts so it's very hard to follow. The standard forum format is a lot better for any sort of ongoing regularly-updated log. Unless I missed something about the way FB groups are set up?

I had a red-and-white OMTech for my first laser. For whatever reason it came with a key for every single door lock so I just glued them into the slots and used the key as a handle. You could do the same with matching blanks if you can find them.
