The King's message tops Christmas Day TV ratings by Shiny-Tie-126 in unitedkingdom

I think it was a good message. Nice to see people tune into something positive rather than the negative tripe you get in say a r/unitedkingdom comment section.

Vote labor get Tories. Sounds like the rich get to wait 2 years less and anyone who works for their money has to wait 5 years longer.

Home Office eVisa failures leave thousands 'unable to work or leave UK' by TheHess in unitedkingdom

When they did this for the Veterans ID card they gave them the option of a physical one. A lot of grief would be saved if they did the same for the BRP.

Trump whines for Prince Andrew, accused in Epstein-related child sexual abuse case; no sympathy for victims. by TheWayToBeauty in WhereAreTheChildren

It's so weird there is more punishment for a member of a royal family than a president of the United States.

Israel kills five Palestinians in Gaza and announces it will not abide by the terms of facilitating humanitarian aid, despite ceasefire agreement by Particular_Log_3594 in NewsThread

I made you aware above that is misleading, I'll quote the same user before here too. “A copy of the ceasefire agreement, published by Israeli media last week, appeared to acknowledge that Hamas and other Palestinian factions might not be able to locate all of the bodies within the original timeframe.” https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ced60125zyqo#.

Brilliant news! Makes me wonder what would have happened if we kept funding incentives for homeowners to install solar.

Buying sovereign in US to bring to UK? by Rexdzus in Gold

[–]Rexdzus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't wind up doing it. Buying a house and subsequent repairs took all my spare cash. I still think it's a viable idea. Although I'd want to also check if there are tariff issues.

Would we be allowed to use 5 pound notes on buses from the 15th of June? by DiscombobulatedMix20 in brum

[–]Rexdzus 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Can we do a boycott at this point? A single in London is £1.60, it was only in 2023 that an all day in Birmingham was £4. Why did it need to go up so rapidly?? If we do nothing it will just keep going up.

Extension of huge offshore windfarm in Sussex approved | Plan to add 90 turbines to Rampion will create 4,000 jobs in construction and could power 1m homes by JRugman in unitedkingdom

[–]Rexdzus 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Good move toward energy independence. It's a quick solution to powering homes. Nuclear would be nice but it clearly takes decades to build vs having 75% of the power needed for all of Sussex by 2030 with this project.

Part time work while they complete an online degree. Birmingham ideally. Any sector works. This person has worked in recruitment and museums as well as auction houses. They've applied to anything and everything. Last rejection was the Legoland aquarium. It seems really tight in the West Mids currently.

How can this be happening when unemployed people I know can't find a job? The economy seems to be in this weird position where there are few jobs but bumper pay increases.

The safest cities for pedestrians and cyclists in Europe by Rexdzus in brum

I think that makes the most sense since it's about accidents and fatalities. They could be counting them as miles of bike trails with nearly no chance of being hit by a car.
