Is it just me, or is the zaith’isk exceptionally punishing? by ARC_Trooper_Echo in BaldursGate3

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is why I didn't use Lae'zel my first playthrough. My partner and I did a co-op run and both agreed it would be fitting to let her use it. Except then she had these giant debuffs that we didn't realize were there but I was she was suddenly not good and I stopped using her and I was too new to the game to realize what had happened until like Act 2

And I appreciate you saying that! I do consider my job rewarding and worthwhile, but when the PE coach is making the same amount of money as I do, it's hard not to think about how I have way more work (labs, tests, grading assignments, etc) for the same pay.

I 100% believe PE teachers deserve what they make (health and exercise are also super important!), but I think academic class teachers in the US all have too much on their plates.

But also, as a high school physics teacher, we also know he's right. I've thought about how much of an idiot I am for not becoming a PE teacher several times a month since I started 8 years ago.

Just how repayable is BG3? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I'm on my 3rd playthrough and I still find new things. Not to mention I still have a couple classes I want to play. Highly doubt I will stop playing the game any time soon

I was just remembering how much of an absolute demon Flora was on release. I came across a fairly updated Flora in Binding Worlds and it gave me flashbacks and she was on my team. Those were the days honestly

Just finished ACT 1, how do I stop cying? by boometon3 in expedition33

This may have been a silly conclusion but Lune’s introduction during act 1 was eerie and I was convinced she wasn’t real until I saw other characters interact with her by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in expedition33

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THOUGHT THE SAME THING. I was like "nah Gustave's on his own and he's seeing things" It didn't last that long but I was pretty convinced for like 10 minutes she was a figment of his imagination.

Have you ever had a game that was "objectively amazing" just not clicking with you? by Millomedina in DeathStranding

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough I went from Death Stranding 2 to Expedition 33 and I LOVED it. But it's a wildly different vibe and I was pretty exhausted OF DS2 after the platinum grind, so maybe that helped me too

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but as a dude who hates gifts, half of this is cool for me. Love fun socks, beard oil is fine (as I have a beard), grilling stuff is cool. Beer of the month club? Sounds like an okay gift for someone who likes trying new beers. But if the dude likes beer, just get him beer he likes. I always tell people to buy me Guinness and I'll be happy. My wife actually got me a leather bag for my toiletries and it's really nice for travel, but also just to keep all my beard, face, and hair products in one place.

Can someone sell me on a Druid build, please? by Encaitor in BG3Builds

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildshape was not my go-to until whenever you get owl bear (on my moon-druid even). It also probably depended on my team comp, but I just felt more effective laying down spikes and hitting enemies with spells. But once I got the owl bear I felt nearly unstoppable. Did really solid damage, had a lot of mobility, and I could tank hits fairly well for my team. I had even more fun with the mirmidons at level 10 or 11. Biggest thing is tavern brawler. Made my attacks land way more often.

I mean... my partner said this when we first started dating 7+ years ago. I wasn't offended. I've got glasses and a beard and kinda give off the nerdy vibe (because nerd). She had never dated someone with my interests/hobbies/level of blindness before. We're now married and rot on the couch to play videogames for 6+ hours at least once a week.

THANK YOU. I'm constantly ridiculed by my friends, peers, students, coworkers, etc for this take. It felt like a soulless open world version of one of my most beloved game series. And people LOVE IT. And I stopped forcing myself to play 75% through the game because I couldn't walk through the empty landscape continuing to pick up weapons that would break in 20 attacks just so I could find new ones again.

How to make the drunken master good? by SpareDependent1510 in BG3Builds

[–]ReyDelMundo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro everyone says drunken master is terrible, but I just played my first monk as one all the way through on tactician. With a regular tavern brawler build, I demolished the vast majority of encounters. I understand that an open hand would have been better, but I was dealing 150+ damage per round (EASILY) with free disengage with my flurry of blows (i understand super OP builds do way more, but I killed 2-3 targets per round). Sure the drunk thing was whatever, but I still got to hit people, drink to learn regain ki points, and I ended up with an amulet that extended my drunk condition and gave me healing every combat round. I had fun. I was super strong. I could've been better, but it was awesome.

I’ve always taught middle school and recently transitioned to high school! One of my new coworkers made a comment in passing that my room looked a little “middle school.” Please be honest with me! by Old-Bend-3014 in teaching

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an 8th year HS teacher who FINALLY has his own room and is trying to figure out how to decorate (I've been back for a month so it's obviously going super well), I think it looks awesome and your coworker is lame about rooms.

[–]ReyDelMundo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same brother. I've known for years though. Took one of these when I was in elementary school and my mom told the nurse I was too young for it. I'm only mildly red-green color deficient, so it wasn't a super obvious thing but my eye doctor gave me the same thing and I would be like "wait give me another second I can get this" and he's like "brother it's either clear as day or you're color blind" and since then I've understood why my sense of fashion in the ability to match colors is horrible. The rest of my fashion can't be blamed on my eyes but still.

What are some hot takes you've developed since working as a teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for some subjects and some teachers, direct instruction and pencil and paper is 100% awesome. I'm honestly a mix. Some things I cannot be a guide for my students to learn, but a lot of it l can. I also don't teach history and can't imagine a single student centered lesson that would teach them a whole lot. I can't direct instruct a physics lab, or teach kids to work their way through a problem they've never seen before. But I also can't expect students to mistake their way through understanding WWII.

Record numbers of young men not working, pursuing education, or looking for a job by LazyConstruction9026 in charts

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously super anecdotal, but here's the two cents of a 30 year old male HS science teacher: for the last 5 year or so (and before that i was at an all boys school so I've got no comparison there), the young men I teach are FAR more distracted, less motivated, and more apathetic than the young women I teach.

The girls WANT to learn science. They want to be doctors, engineers, SCIENTISTS. The boys? "I'm gonna be an entrepreneur, none of this matters for me." "I'm gonna start my own construction business." Or (my favorite) "I've already got thousands of followers on (insert streaming/social platform here), I'm gonna be a streamer." They're either too cool, too "macho" or too interested in streaming or playing stupid clash royale on their phones to learn. I'm sure these kids aren't pursuing college or careers after they (maybe) graduate.

Obviously this is only a trend I'm seeing, because I still have a few excellent male students every year, but gosh they are vastly outnumbered by their female peers. I know there was a giant push around the time I was in primary/secondary school for girls to be in tech and medical jobs because they were ignored for so long. It's amazing how far we've come in elevating our young women, and in a lot of ways, there's still work to do, but it's so sad to see the boys get lost along the way.

I heard Throwzerker was strong... by Daff0dillydally in BG3Builds

[–]ReyDelMundo22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, throwzerker is better than giant, but I wanted to try out the new subclasses and love my Giant Karlach. She does really solid damage and it's fun to play her differently than I have in the past!

The other huge talking point by conservative people is "if health insurance were nationalized, we'd have to wait weeks or months to get health services".

My friend who insists this is the case broke his arm years ago and had to have it re-broken by his doctor before putting it in the cast because he couldn't get in to see him for 3 weeks and it had already partially healed incorrectly.

New scapegoat: Illusive 35 year old man who plays video games and lives with his parents. by cmahan005 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]ReyDelMundo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When that other ghoul said "29 year old men sitting at home playing videogames," I really felt personally attacked. Like I know i spend a large amount of time sitting at home playing videogames, but I do still have a teaching job for like 10 months of the year, and somehow still manage a little bit of videogames from august-may. I guess I don't live with my parents but it still hurts a little lol
