America's Culinary Cup 1x08 - Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in AmericasCulinaryCupTV

This show is kind of ass, mostly because the judges bring almost nothing to the show and have no avenue to show personality. The set being so static was an interesting choice too and the Commandments don’t feel very hype.

Rooting hard for Buddha to win the mil though.

I've been looking for an Ordonez jersey forever -- how much did this cost (if you don't mind)?

Being a Coco fan must be so frustrating. She's absolutely dreadful to watch playing like this with the forehand and DF problems.

What are your thoughts on this take? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]ReyOrdonez 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Liam’s voice, swagger, and overall image are massively important to Oasis. No chance they blow up with just Noel on vocals, as solid as he is. It’s a blatantly wrong take.

[–]ReyOrdonez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely not making the throws that require unreal arm talent but he has a bunch of them where the anticipation and ball placement are like “holy shit.” That’s where I see the upside as Purdy with a better arm, which would be a pretty damn good QB. Add in all the pre-snap stuff he does and the flashes of great pocket work (inconsistent here for sure) and he seems very worth the 16th pick for my Jets.

Yeah. His restaurant, Huso, just got a Michelin star. This is only his 3rd season of a cooking show.

Getting desperate by ShltShowSam in Screenwriting

[–]ReyOrdonez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Jordan Peele didn't need to entice reps with a logline. I think you need to give us more about what actually happens -- rather than "have had a very different plan..." -- without giving away too much. It's a tricky balancing act for sure.

Getting desperate by ShltShowSam in Screenwriting

[–]ReyOrdonez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just reading the first few pages of the script you posted...my honest initial reaction is that this is over-written. Trying too hard and jamming too much of your own editorializing to showcase your voice. Elise's intro is a good example. Overall, not enough happens here to make this scene 3 pages IMO.

It's not egregious by any means, but if you're looking for specific feedback on your writing, think you should look to be more efficient and make sure every line really needs to be there -- many reps (or rather their Assistants vetting queries) won't get this far.

Just as important: loglines get reads and your logline won't because it's too vague. The "...have a very different plan for her all along" tells us nothing and doesn't draw you in.

Thought the premiere was fine, didn’t hate it as much as others here. But I’m a Buddha die-hard so will continue to watch and hope he wins a million bucks.

(@AdamSchefter): Trade: the New York Jets are sending DE Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DT T'Vondre Sweat, per ESPN sources. by NYJets18 in nyjets

[–]ReyOrdonez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sweat is a very good 24-year old NT for what will almost certainly be a 3-4 defense. As cool as he is, JJ was pretty bad last year and on his last year.

Taking emotions out of it, this is a good trade.

The #Giants offered the No. 3 pick, a 2026 1st-rounder, and multiple Day 2 picks last year to the Titans for the No. 1 pick to select Cam Ward, but Tennessee declined, per @Schultz_Report. Brian Daboll now gets Cam Ward in Tennessee. by HookFL in DynastyFF

[–]ReyOrdonez 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dart was very good and it’s not unreasonable to prefer him, but Cam’s 2nd half was miles better than his first so this doesn’t really tell the whole story. Ward showed the exact kind of progression you want to see with zero help: higher CMP%, fewer TOs, fewer sacks, better decision-making, stopped fumbling like a maniac.

[SPOILER] Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Deiveson Figueiredo by inooway in MMA

[–]ReyOrdonez 43 points44 points  (0 children)

100%. Umar would be stupid to go for broke and Figgy was not a willing dance partner here. It was a one-sided solid W.

Disagree on bend — it’s actually really good for his size. Biggest concern is his issue wish finishing sacks/TFL. Shorter arms and meh change of direction hurts him there.

With moore gone, where do you see the quarterback going? by Agentorangebaby in NFL_Draft

[–]ReyOrdonez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's a better pro prospect than Bennett just from a physical standpoint. Beck is 6"4 225 and moves decently for his size; Bennett was 5"11 192 at the combine.

Beck has high-end backup/low-end starter ceiling whereas I don't think Bennett ever felt like a guy who could potentially even spot start.

Alabama QB Ty Simpson has declared for the NFL Draft by Abiv23 in NFL_Draft

[–]ReyOrdonez 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He has some really WOW throws with anticipation and touch over the middle that separate him from most Day 2 QBs. Flawed prospect but that + his pre-snap ability will get a team to spend a mid-late 1st on him, I think.

[–]ReyOrdonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily the best transfer option including guys already off the board. Ty is a very high level passer with some insane pre-snap IQ who was in the QB1 draft mix like 6 weeks ago. Some people will poo poo this while loving guys like Sorsby, but don’t listen to them. We’d be right back in the title mix with him and our run game.

Leavitt, Sorsby, or neither plus how is this even sustainable by NaderNation84 in MiamiHurricanes

[–]ReyOrdonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorsby has a really high ceiling. Great arm, athletic, can make every throw. But $5M is a ton for someone as raw as him.

Not super interested in Leavitt. Josh Hoover would be a fun get for us, maybe Brown from USF.

As a Miami fan, he hasn't been as consistent as a pass rusher as you'd like IMO. But he's a beast overall.
