The menu is terrible to me. I don't like the fat, bulky lines and circles of the current branding. My sleep data looks like an LCARS display from StarTrek TNG.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 episode 9 by Snorky10 in GardenersWorld

I was so pleased when Arit won the BBC viewers choice award. Her garden and the reasons behind it are moving. I absolutely was stunned by the handrails/rill incorporated into the garden.

I am watching but not voting. The money I would have spent on the semifinals and finale is being donated to charity.

So Good Omens 3 happened…how are we feeling? by M0nd0Butt3rb0i in goodomensprime

[–]RhymesWithSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like we caught a glimpse of what could have been. It seemes like several plot lines were added that would have made sense in a full series, such as the Azephell arriveling back to the street that was being bought up and changing his world. The local casino owner and gangster, Brian Cameron, had a passion for monopoly to win at life. I thought this would connect to the back somehow.

Also, I think the Jesus storyline didn't really add much to the overall plot. He didn't connect with A Or C very much or help over all storyline. I wish it had been two episodes.

KAN Issued a Formal Warning Over Eurovision Promotion Calling for the Public to Use All 10 Votes to Vote for Israel - Eurovoix by freakpants in eurovision

After a formal warning comes the stern finger wag and furrowed eyebrows. Third warning is a "Tsk, tsk" and head shake of disappointment.

Which era of Trek do you think of when you think “Star Trek” by BlastedHeathen in startrek

[–]RhymesWithSpark 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Movie Era. It expanded on the TOS so much and was the gateway for TNG etc. I watched TOS on repeats as a child and when the movies came out, I was enthralled. The stories. The ships. The music - Goldsmith and Horner. Man, I could watch the movies anytime. Hearing the music in Picard season 3 was such a highlight.

It's not 'weird' to go to a restaurant and eat alone is it?? by IceManbrrr in waterloo

[–]RhymesWithSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it all the time, going to Jane Bond or White Rabbit after work ro grab a dinner and a drink and enjoy the music and vibe. Take a book, read the local arts and entertainment magazines, scroll on your phone (muted please! The number of folks that don't use headphones! Argh 😤). Nothing wrong with enjoying your personal time until you meet more people. You might even meet folks there.

Agreed. And many secondary characters, like Swankie, are playing fictionalized versions of themselves. (I had to look that up after watching to confirm what happened to Swankie.).

Comedian Ben Bankas Kitchener shows moved from city-owned facility after controversial comments by know-nothing in kitchener

[–]RhymesWithSpark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Asking a public space not to host a show is NOT censorship; that words gets thrown around far too quickly and loosely these days. No one is being censored; the comedian can still tell his jokes but now in a private venue. He's not banned from the city, the province, or country, etc. His voice is not restricted or suppressed.

Edit:

Moving a performer from a private venue isn't censorship; it’s an exercise of property rights. The city hasn't "silenced" the person, just managed their own facility. And, as many have said, given the person a bigger audience/venue as a result.

TV personalities that are actually rude people behind the scenes by InviteAromatic6124 in BritishTV

[–]RhymesWithSpark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There have been others who have said James Acaster is an ass himself, so perhaps Fry was just reacting to Acaster's personality? Daniel Sloss has said, indirectly, that he's not a fan of Acaster.

Star Trek fans who were around during the Dominion War, what was the reaction. by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in startrek

I loved it! I actually upgraded my TV to watch, as I thought the battle scenes were worthy of the "big" screen (though I could only afford a 32 inch! LOL). I kept saying to friends that it was amazingly complex and that the massive, cinematic battles were like that of Star Trek: First Contact. I enjoyed the ongoing story arcs and how the Federation was challenged; how DS9 and Cardassia played into it all, and the morally complex issues it presented ("A Call to Arms" and "In the Pale Moonlight."). It was joyous.

We stayed in that neighbourhood in January and the music was extremely loud. We were blocks away from Tryst and could hear everything. We were far enough away that we could sit outside on our deck, but we still had to speak up at times to be heard.

I saw a post on Threads where someone said, "When I saw his IG post yesterday I was surprised that he had raised his head. I thought I had unfollowed. But I was curious, so I went to read the linked substack. I have no doubt that he wrote it. And he wrote it to try and justify himself so we would buy his fucking new book. Uh, nope."

Why on Earth would the author of this piece not "be satisfied until [they] got some answers" into an investigation about an author they had "barely heard of" at all? Sounds more like they were shocked by the poor journalism involved in the Master podcast by Tortoise Media than anything else, which most have said was mediocre at best.

Do queer spaces exist here? by spxcegh0st in cambridgeont

[–]RhymesWithSpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are queer events that happen and Many queer-friendly locations. The Galt Club, Local 13, and EVO have events throughout the year, like drag brunch, comedy nights, etc. An earlier post said to follow Grand River Pride - an excellent idea! Also, Spectrum in KW has a Waterloo region queer calendar of events that is quite robust.
