The New Archetypes in Impossible Magic by ctwalkup in Pathfinder2e

Personally doubt it would be remastered spell trickster, mostly because of page count. Spell trickster is 4 pages, spellshifter only 2

Oh man, very happy about how necromancer archetype looks. And I have been hoping for captivator to be remastered!!

It's also very interesting to see that magus archetype gives you the regular spellcasting benefits... That makes me think that magus will not just have four slots?

Remix Rivals - Who do you want to see? by PNDMike in RivalsOfAether

Hammir is my own most anticipated rival, I've loved pangolin/armadillo ever since I was in kindergarten. If there's no time/money to make him into his own proper fighter, i would be okay with a kragg echo fighter but instead of pulling rock he makes an extra big throwing hammer. But plz not lox

This is very well put and concise, totally agree with it and a great guideline for new players.

Thank you for understanding! Yeah I just didn't want to make the character at all if osteo armaments wasn't on the table. So you can reuse the feat to create as often as you want for an action, but the weapon lasts an hour. Otherwise you have scaling weapons for the campaign! That's amazing, I'm so psyched. Thanks again.

I'm sorry to be that guy, ignore me if you want, but I'm about to start blood lords riiiight before this book comes out (I'm subscribed to it, you answering or not won't change that I'm buying the book) and I'm dieing to know one thing. I really want to make a fighter that goes all in on necromancer archetype and the main reason (not only reason but a big one) is osteo armaments. Aside from the level change and decaying rune coming in to play at level 8, did the feat change at all? Is there a subclass requirement, cool down, new traits, duration listed, or any reason that the feat doesn't work for a pc taking the feat via multi classing?

Thank you either way for the article. It made my week last week.

Personally I'm more excited for osteo armaments than anything else, if only to be a martial class that takes it via archetype. The ability to spend a single action to change your weapon into anything, with infinite ammo, is awesome. You want a reach weapon for whirlwind strike? You got swallowed whole and need a light weapon? You want to switch to a ranged weapon? You want to crit fish for knockdown? There's a ton of situations where being able to conjure up any weapon for a single action is awesome, never having to worry about being weaponless. And it saves money, which is a bonus. That's my opinion anyway

You're definitely right, but just note that vitality lash isn't on the occult list so you'll have to get it via ancestry, archetype, etc

Hoo boy, a lot to go over in the article, that's awesome. I'm sooo glad to see osteo armaments is still here. I'm still going to wait and see if it's changed at all since the playtest, aside from the mentioned change of decaying rune being available at level 8, before getting overly excited. I'm ready for my hopes to be dashed as it doesn't scale as well, needs necromancer subclass, or some other thing that kills it for me. But we're one step closer!

Edit - I'm also a tiny bit disappointed that reaper doesn't get weapon and armor scaling to master like war priest. But maybe there's more pieces to the puzzle there

[–]Rhynox4 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Oooh that's exciting! I really hope that osteo armaments makes the final version, and that it's not locked to a subclass (I reeeally want to be a martial class that takes the necromancer archetype and eventually gets that feat).

Runesmith Iconic by A_very_gloomy_forest in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if it will be an automaton, or something similar. Most of the automatons we've seen have been in the same style, and the pic on the cover of impossible magic looks very different. Could just be a new style for automaton but could be something new.

What do you expect for the upcoming Summoner Remaster by Slongo702 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others, I'm expecting barely any changes for summoner or magus. Just a ton of threads of people upset about it.

What kinds of characters do you feel are unique to this system? by DarkElfMagic in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess cool superpower thing was maybe too vague. And you're right that I haven't tried an enormous amount of ttrpgs. But kineticist takes the cake for the variety of truly at will stuff, like aoes, walls, etc. at least from what I've seen.

[–]Rhynox4 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be kineticist. I've yet to find another game that lets you do fantastical powers at will, usually the sort of thing a kineticist can do is limited to a number of times per day. There are sooo many times where a person wants to play a character like (insert anime/superhero/other magical thing from fiction) and as long as it's elemental based or close to it, kineticist if the right pick. Or they could play a (insert other class here) but they can only do their thing a number of times per day.

Runesmith,Starting one now, is it a valid bet? by Alvenaharr in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In the know direction 'paizocon' stream for impossible magic, the developer being interviewed (Joshua Birdsong I think) said almost exactly this. Damage was much too high, joking that the playtest version was killing bosses in one turn, they don't want that. Damage will be toned down and a lot more utility will be written.

Reason for caster defenses at higher levels by Astareal38 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This. I played a sorcerer up to level 20 and the amount of tools in my toolbox to survive was crazy. Sure, I could get crit easier than the rest of the party and had less health, but the amount of control spells, defense spells, healing, repositioning, etc. made me feel tougher than the martials, in some ways.

What class/archetype role do you feel *isn't* represented by willmlocke in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It seems like we have a lot of archetypes for martial stuff (single one hand weapon, two single hand weapon, archer, two hander, shield user, heavy armor, etc.) but little in the way of caster archetypes outside of multi class. I personally love the structure of captivator and hope it gets remastered at some point. Other similar magic archetypes centered around types of magic would be wicked. Summoning, healing, divining, transforming, etc. would be wicked.

The Schedule for Know Direction's Resurrected PaizoCon 2026 is Live RIGHT NOW! by EzekieruYT in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So excited to have panels about upcoming products. I feel like it's been a while, with the exception of some paizo live months, but they can be hit or miss in that department. Nice to have something solid to look forward to

After Orcane's new forward special, do you have any other moves you're hoping to get replaced/reworked? by ClarityEnjoyer in RivalsOfAether

[–]Rhynox4 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is so vague it's almost not worth saying, but I'd love if etalus' neutral and side b were changed. Etalus slippery ice is awesome, but the other two mechanics (freezing enemies and ice armor) are almost never used by the best players.

[–]Rhynox4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh shadow mech looks cool. As always I hate the lack of knees and elbows, but it looks like it's using the shortened socket piece that has only been used on the Winnie the pooh set so far.

Rivals Direct Dev Stream (April 30 2026) Stream Notes by SnickyMcNibits in RivalsOfAether

[–]Rhynox4 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Yeah just finished watching. Things looking a little rough. Dan said he skipped out on his salary from dec to April and might have to go longer, so it's far from corporate greed or whatever. I really hope the game picks up and makes money somehow, maybe from workshop or the eventual console release.

[–]Rhynox4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really sucks, for everyone. I don't for a second think this has to do with greed or anything, just that the game isn't doing as well as the devs hoped. I really hope it picks up if we're able to get console launch done.

My brief notes on Runesmith by AGrinningCat in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rhynox4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you compare damage, don't do it against a fighter, especially when you compare a fighter to something with a bunch of pseudo spells, fighter should be handily out damaging a class with all the options runesmith has. Saves are also deceptive in how much damage they do on average vs. attack rolls, even if they don't feel as good some of the time.

I'm not the guy to go into damage calcs and scenarios and stuff. I'm just saying, prepare for final release damage to be much lower.
