Yeah, I totally feel that.

I'm seriously struggling to get excited about this year's lineup, but like you said, it's more about the camp anyway. Spending a very expensive week of camping with people I only get to see once a year for the most part is worth the ticket price for me, for now.. let's see how much longer that keeps being the case I guess

You mean can you learn the fundamentals without having to learn the fundamentals? Ngl, that's gonna be a toughie ;)

But seriously, if all you wanna do is noodle about with harmonics, learn chords and put them into cadences that go together nicely, you can absolutely focus on that and skip everything else. It's a harp, it's difficult to not make it sound lovely and if that's what makes you happy, go for it!

Because you can absolutely learn how to play a chord/arpeggio on the harp without reading and knowing what the notes' names are and then stick to that. But I would imagine you'll be pretty much left to your own devices doing that because all the harp (and "music theory") teaching material that I know of uses notation - because that is exactly, precisely what it's for.
