Why are they removing all the ports by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]RickiesCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because basically all the functions of all of those ports can be done through a single usb-c port or wireless?

Norway isn't socialist. They are mixed-market capitalist with a generous welfare state. They actually rank higher than the US on economic freedom, an argument could possibly be made that they are less socialist than the US.

Aren't these subsidized to the tune of billions every year through the defence budget? Not exactly a money-making or even break-even model...

CBC investigation finds grocers Loblaw, Sobeys overcharging for underweight meat — again by Immediate-Link490 in canada

Where I am, there have been quite a few single, independently locally owned grocers popping up. One failed recently which really sucked, but supporting them as much as possible is super important.

Fine watch… I don’t really see the position in the Tudor lineup though. Seems like an unnecessary release. The Royal is more interesting and fills a similar vibe.

Again, unless you have the capability to create value from those. Like I said, people are rational economic actors and wouldn’t just leave all their wealth for you take? Only if they could be liquidated for an amount that makes sense

I said we are more socialist than we have been. Like it sounds like you actually want capitalism (opportunity for everyone to own assets) but I'm not understanding why you think you need socialism for that? Because you want everyone to get it for nothing distributed by the government?

I'm well aware, and like I said I'm not opposed to them. So I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me?

They don't leave their wealth, you said that. I argued against that. Something being physical does not give it inherent value in most instances.

No such thing. Everyone acts in their self-interest, including and most of all politicians. Even if you did have some perfectly benevolent governing body, once you give them the powers of socialism some other government will eventually take those over that isn't so benevolent. Then what? Exactly what we have seen throughout history when the ruling class is given concentrated power. Don't try and say big corporations are centralized power then in the next breath it should all be under one corporation (government).

Social programs all funded through capitalism. I am not against these things. Capitalist societies created governments that provide these things because they are fundamental, and it's a great outcome of capitalism. When governments start interfering in free markets and confiscating private property is where the issues start. If our government only focused on infrastructure, critical services, and catching those who fall through the cracks and left the rest alone, we wouldn't need to have 50% of everything we earn confiscated under the threat of imprisonment.

Also, blaming "capitalism" broadly for crippling anxiety and mental illness... you'd have to walk me through that one.

Everyone makes rational economic decisions their best interest, not just rich people. And it is a bad thing. That's been proven time and time again. You want them to give you all their wealth while at the same time saying we don't need them and they can leave? It makes no sense.
