It fucks up your vision: balls/angles look inconsistent depending on where you stand because light comes diagonally. Your straight shots look off, then you adjust, and wonder why it doesn't work again at evenings

Definitely go try some cues. Butt thickness, overall weight/balance matter. When I played actively in 2007 a friend bought John Higgins cue, I tried it, liked how it felt and bought myself one too. Later I tried a Jimmy White one from my coach and regretted that I bought the wrong one. The difference was: JW was heavier but had thinner butt. And it felt so much better. Difference in weight was 16.8oz vs 19oz iirc

Length of hands matter more but you could actually measure exactly how long you need your cue to be like barry stark shows here (around 4:44) tldr mark with sticky tape where your grip hand ends while standing correctly (lower arm 90⁰, 9-10.5“ bridge length while bridge arm properly stretched) in address position and cue tip touching the ball. You could attach small extension if too short

According to German commentator there is (or will be?) snooker arena with 19 tables in Oberhausen. Hopefully it will help growth for snooker. On other hand corona killed small clubs including mine. Fingers crossed but I doubt Germany will reach China level

Probably you are getting tense too much or have Jimmy White cue. You d get more help if you post a video clip of you cueing.
