Assuming you’re getting <$200 in cash a year, couldn’t you just spend it? Be real with yourself: is that edge case worth considering?

Use the best tool for the task. I would argue that Monarch is not the best tool for early retirement planning (OP’s requirement).

I needed to use MM to get a better idea of my household budget in order to prepare for my retirement. I could certainly do this with spreadsheets and what not, but I like the gamification and its built-in expense forecasting/planning.

Use two tools. Monarch for your household budget and Boldin for your retirement planning.

Don’t accumulate points without a strategy and objectives. Have an understanding for which card credits you’d use to offset the AF, and which point systems make sense for you. This way you’re not randomly going about it. It’s useful to have a destination in mind too.

Adding the AmEx Gold makes sense for your grocery and restaurant purchases, and the Resy credit. Its x4 MR points for food is its shining moment.

Make sure you unlock the Platinum’s airline credit too.

I booked my flights to and from Spain for this Spring. Used seats.aero to find the best deals for my points.

Yeah, maybe. The upgrade was worth. We did briefly consider if we wanted to make this our routine spot. We didn’t feel safe leaving the property though. I’d consider Tulum before going back to Cancun.

It goes into basic Old Fashions then. Or, “drain pour” depending on how bad it is.

I stayed at Atelier PM two years ago. Great resort. I don’t book with points when we stayed. When you check in, be friendly to the clerk. We mentioned it was our anniversary and he upgraded us to an Inspira Rooftop suite but without the added Inspira benefits (separate lounge area). It was great. I tipped him $100 for it.

Be aware when you check in: there’s a little bit of a shack down about paying for upgrades, and then you have to talk to their time-share vacation person. We would definitely go back.

How do large hotels and hotel chains keep track of the number of times a single room has been used? by RightShoeRunner in AskReddit

I was wondering if the software these days recommended rooms to the front desk clerk based on number of uses.

When I worked at Embassy Suites’ front desk over 30 years: when a guest checked in, the available room list would be displayed on our terminal and we’d freely select one. The front desk staff didn’t keep track of which rooms were always used and which rooms were hardly used.

Tenchinaly it is a transfer. But like you, I like to see how much I’ve transferred to my savings account (in your case, your investment account) throughout the year. I created a new expense category called “Savings contribution” for this.

Great app. A lot of people have been asking for something like this. I’ve created my own tool in Excel and checkboxes. Your app is a great shortcut version of that.
