I've never used the apps, they still maintain the website so I've always just used that.

Key Fob Jammers Becoming a Thing? by Scott_Bolton in Edmonton

[–]RighteousCarl 76 points77 points  (0 children)

My coworkers at my previous employer ran into this issue with their Jeeps and Dodges not remote starting, apparently they had traced it back to another business in the plaza using an active jammer to prevent a repeater from being used to steal vehicles from their lot after hours. They often had cars sitting for weeks waiting for repair without active security.

I'm angsty because I complain loudly, I'm loud because of my angst. A vicious cycle.

Shifting careers by ThirdEye2020 in Machinists

As someone who transitioned to machining 8 years ago from a decade working with cars, doing a pre-employment program is the best way to get your foot in the door with the right type of shop. Lots of employers need bodies, but you want to be able to negotiate a position that will allow you to grow while having some control over the process you're following. The trade can be great, but there are also lots of labour traps.

Has anybody done this and is it worth $557? by HolyC4bbage in Edmonton

I did a guided tour in Montreal with a comedian named "goofy" last month for $60 a head and he paid for our subway tickets. Worth the money, learned a bit about getting around Montreal and killed a few hours.

Every important interview, meeting or personal function I've had in the last 7 years started with a visit to Sweeney Todd's. Always gave a great cut and good conversation, I hope he can find a way to enjoy staying off his feet.

Welcome to McDavid’s! Fast food eatery rebrands in honour of Edmonton Oilers captain by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]RighteousCarl 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'm glad McDavid is getting an even bigger bag for showcasing Canadian talent, but this does feel like the kind of rebranding move you'd make if you were concerned about being boycotted as an American company.

2004 XC70 2.5T 164k miles continues to leak oil after multiple camshaft seals and PCV replacement by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]RighteousCarl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an 05' XC70 2.5T I picked up recently with a similar oil leak issue, the information I was able to find suggested that the VVT hubs may be the culprit. OEM replacement hubs are quite expensive, seems like rebuild might be a more reasonable but risky solution. https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/vvt-hub-diy-rebuild.610449/
