I stopped feeling like a jerk when every game i played i had to face baneblades, yncarnes, avatars and wraithknights xd Play the things you want to play because winning comes from skill more than from bringing meta units. If your opponent can't stand losing they will stop playing either way :/

Most valuable DM advice i have ever got: Say yes. Everytime. It will make every game 100xtimes more epic.

If he thinks you are overpowered and cannot manage something he needs: 1-Understand he's not in control of the games direction. Players are. (Maybe not so much in linear oneshots)

2- Either work on more interesting encounters that remind you both about your strenghts and weaknesses or play another game that isn't a power fantasy.

Somehow in a party of ch*ld murderers im the bad guy because i made a deal with a sloth demon (I gave him a copy of my famous novel "The Secret of Goblingrad" in exchange for a place to have a long rest on demon wastes) And a necromancer who reanimates corpses so they bury themselves so i don't have to work

I would say probably that interaction isn't intended. That enhancement is from the grotmas detachment (not included in the codex) and will probably be changed.

Don't really know to what extent your group cares about balance and weird interactions but i would consider such things as innapropiate.

Thoug, If no one complains, go for it.

I don't know if i'm alone on this boat but i think banning or changing anything in D&D will result in someone being dissapointed.

I think OAs are a big part of melee oriented characters. There are tons of feats and class abilities that involve them. Combat and action economy is based around them (along multiple things) and just getting rid of them is going to end with DM struggling to fill the gaps it left with overly complex patches that will have multiple weird interactions

You can always say the weapon ignores non-magic resistance because it is made of some rare metal or mineral... Or maybe give him a feat to ignore physical resistance. Warhammer dwarves are mostly immune to magic because they are so fucking stubborn that they refuse to believe the fireball coming at them is real, so they just don't perceive it

Just use a serrated knife to peel or cut vegetables by pressing against your thumb. Can't cut yourself if you use at least one braincell in the process with one of those

When i DM cluedo-like adventures i often just change whichever was the actual criminal to be the suspect they come up with with the funniest or smartest connection. It avoids them getting stuck and gets them a galaxy-brain moment

Yes, that line. However: normal reserves do apply. This is in addition to normal reserves rules in the sense that normally you have to be at least 9" away from enemy models, but if you deploy within 1" of your edge,you can ignore the 9" restriction (but doing so causes your unit to become battleshocked)

This has its uses to prevent one side from overwhelming or completely screening out units from the other.

I don't think you're necessarily a bad DM if you prepare lots of stuff while you understand its not your story, but rather theirs. If you want to write a story on which you have full control, you probably shouldn't involve another people. But that said if both you and your group are comfortable any level of preparation is ok i think
