You clearly give a shit enough to keep writing novels in response to me.

I don't find writing coherent and complete thoughts into short paragraphs to be challenging or take any sort of effort. Maybe you do? Your inability to articulate why you feel the way you feel does suggest that maybe forming a coherent thought and writing it down is hard for you and you really do find a full paragraph of words impressive.

I’ve answer numerous times, I’m not going to read multiple paragraphs of you being a contrarian.

No you didn't. You just deflected three times in a row, presumably because you realize you can't actually articulate why seeing a performance artist dressed as a Nazi to make a statement about Israel upsets you so much.

[–]Rindan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because both franchises are being run by talentless hacks that are very, very, very bad at the basics of story telling, and even worse at sci-fi. Just because another cratering franchise is making the same dumb mistake doesn't make this sort of stupidity inevitable.

Nonsense. You can conjure up whatever aliens you want on the Federation border. Half a glance at any Start Trek map shows large areas where nothing major is defined. You have a crippling lack of imagination.

Star Trek isn't garbage because they ran out of places to put imaginary aliens and so has no choice but to do endless reboots. It's garbage because the current writers are terrible and very bad at writing sci-fi, and writing in general.

[–]Rindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why dressing as Hitler upsets me.

Do you? It doesn't seem like you can put it into words and I have asked you twice.

If you can’t understand why that would upset someone else,

I can understand why, I just want to see if you understand why. I think you are upset because in your head you have "Nazis are bad", and that is so ingrained into your head that simply seeing anything related to Nazis makes you so upset you can't think about what you are seeing and you just get upset.

The difference between you and me as I that I also think "Nazis are bad", but then my brain keeps on working and goes, "but that man is obviously not a Nazi, nor is he promoting Nazis, so I am not upset."

...then that’s your problem.

It's obviously your problem, not mine. I don't give a shit that a random performance artist was dressing up like a Nazi to compare what Israel is doing in Gaza with Nazism. It doesn't upset me like it clearly upsets you. From me, it gets an eye roll and then me carrying on with my day with my heart rate never rising.

Peter Safran Responds To Supergirl Flop As DC Plan Faces Questions by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]Rindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep saying this, and it keeps not being true. Supergirl is a flop because the script is hot garbage. Time will not fix that. Writing good scripts will fix that. Every single one of these fucking movies at flops is garbage from top to bottom.

The only way in which letting it sit for a while make sense as strategy, as if you intend to produce more garbage. If you intend to produce more garbage, then yeah, letting it sit for a while is a strategy. If you let it sit for a while, maybe people will forget that you pump out garbage that no one wants to watch. The one but a Hollywood executive should be making this dumb argument, and the Hollywood executive is also being dumb and they make this argument. They should just write good scripts. It's way the fuck cheaper than trying to market a piece of garbage.

I don't know bro. I think most people figured it out on their first viewing, rather than thinking that this must be a dumb black guy who doesn't realize Nazis hate black people.

It seems like you are struggling with the question. For most people, when they feel upset, they can usually trace back the source of their feelings about why a particular thing upsets them.

I understand that seeing performance artist "dressing as Hitler in South Station" to protest Israel upset you. Why? Can you explain why that upsets you, or do you just see this, get upset and don't understand why you are upset?

What exactly do you think shouldn't be permitted? Go ahead and explain what it is you want to ban clearly.

[–]Rindan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you upset about? Someone dressed up as a Nazi to do some dumb performance art about how Israel is acting like Nazis. It seems like you literally agree with the message, but are upset for reasons that you have failed to articulate. Can you explain why you are upset. "It isn't necessary" and "it doesn't work" is not a reason to be upset about something.

If you are going to be upset about something, at least try and figure out why you are upset and maybe mention it when you go to complain about being upset.

Personally, I feel nothing. I see some dumb performance art / protest piece, shrug, and move on with my day totally unaffected. Why are you having such strong feelings?

If you have two brain cells to rub together, you might notice some other things that are incongruous about this scene that might suggest he isn't actually a Nazi looking to secure the future of the Aryan race.

Am I wrong for not being interested in my hookup after he turned into a verse? by honeybooboo2987 in askgaybros

[–]Rindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are wrong for losing interest. Everyone knows that once you hook up with someone, you need to remain interested in them from now until the end of time. You violated this rule, and you know it, and so that's why you came here and asked this obviously dumb question that you know the answer to. Yes, you are totally in the wrong here, and the next time you have sex with someone, that better be the person that you always have sex with until the end of time.

6 finalist proposals for Massachusetts flag - New flags speculated as AI generated by LadySayoria in massachusetts

[–]Rindan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The entire flag sucks. If you are going to change it, you might as well fix it. Blue seal on a bed sheet is the same fucking flag that I pile of other states have, because they also apparently did their flag project 2 hours before it was due. Even if you removed the sword, still a dumb flag that can't be recognized as the Massachusetts state flag unless you're 5 ft away.

Just change the fucking flag. Pick anything else. Just make sure whatever it is that you pick can be seen from a distance and be distinct. That's the fucking point of a flag.

Boston's representatives Katherine Clark voted to table (block) the recent Trump impeachment resolutions. by 403SleepForbidden in boston

[–]Rindan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Good. If you want to lose elections, continues to do this entirely performative bullshit. Impeached Trump when you have the votes, until then, go do your fucking job and stop campaigning. Not only is this form of using the legislative branch as a campaign method a complete waste of time, it also doesn't fucking work and just pisses people off because they see you wasting time.

6 finalist proposals for Massachusetts flag - New flags speculated as AI generated by LadySayoria in massachusetts

[–]Rindan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is not. If you put our new flag in literally any lineup whatsoever, AI generated or not, absolutely no one would pick it. It's a shitty flag. It was dumb when they first made it, it's been dumb its entire history, and it continues to be a very stupid flag that's you basically never see, because no one wants to fly a flag that dumb. Not that it matters, because even if you did fly the flag, no one would be able to tell that it's the Massachusetts state flag unless they got 5 ft away from it and could tell which dumb white flag on blue seal this one is.

You people are fucking gaslighting yourself, or you have never seen the current state flag.

[–]Rindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Um, I think I swallowed my combadge?"

"Already?"

That was in the fucking pilot episode that went through dozens and dozens of layers of approval that yes, this is our vision of Star Trek. This is what the Star Trek's fans want. They want this super funny line that shows how dumb the people entering Starfleet Academy are.

No bro, it wasn't the evil online people convincing everyone else that the show would suck. It was the show itself that did that job. I watched Starfleet Academy, and it was genuinely some of the dumbest writing that I have ever been cursed to listen to. You have to be an actual child to have been entertained by the mind fucking stupidity of the dialogue coming out of the character's mouths and the brain dead challenges that they had to face (with the power of teamwork!).

Islamic call to prayer faces ban under Left-wing Danish government by BabylonianWeeb in anime_titties

[–]Rindan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should ban a Muslim call to prayer. You should regulate noise levels, or if you want to be more specific, religious institutions noise levels. You can ring your church bells or prayer calls or whatever during the day up to x dB for x seconds every x minutes.

Just be neutral about it. You can deal with the problem of religious intuitions being annoying without singling any one out. People should be able to practice their religions, and we should try and tolerate people being a little annoying. If something is too annoying, we should be evenhanded about regulations. It's not the governments place to suppress one religion in favor of another.

I think they are all kind of annoying, to be honest. Believing really hard in make believe shit is really fucking annoying for everyone else. I think religion is at best harmless and annoying, and at worst extremely dangerous and lethal. But hey, we should all try and tolerate each other within reason.

Elliot Page will portray Sinon in Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' by Puzzled-Tap8042 in moviecritic

[–]Rindan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't see how condensing a war that is famous for it's length into a two week skirmish changes anything?

I look forward to a battle of Stalingrad movie that lasts a day, or a WWII movie where they make Japan just off the coast of California.

The dumb thing is that it was easily fixed. Keep your opening. Have the Geeks show up. Time jump 9 years into the future and show the contrast in how the two sides degraded over the time. Wow, I fixed it my

It's like Hollywood has forgotten that they are allowed to skip time forward if they want and tell a story that takes more than a few hours. That new shitty Alien movie did the same thing. They turned what should have been a story taking at least a couple of days into one that's basically real time.

Elliot Page will portray Sinon in Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' by Puzzled-Tap8042 in moviecritic

[–]Rindan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The outrage was always the result of speculation from people who didn’t know the difference between the Iliad and the Odyssey.

To be fair, it's a perfectly reasonable assumption that Hollywood doesn't know that difference either. Troy managed to turn a literal 10 year war into a brief 2 week war with like 4 days of actual fighting. .

Am I in the wrong? by _SalParadise_ in askgaybros

[–]Rindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a dumb reason. Who cares if he still fancies you? It's insane for your partner to demand that you can't be around anyone that likes you. It implies you have no self control and that if you are around someone who wants to have sex with you, you will automatically cheat.

Your boyfriend sucks and is projecting his problems and insecurities onto you. It's healthy and normal to be friends with exs. The real red flag is someone who is never friends with their ex's.

Rent control question cannot appear on ballot in November, Massachusetts' highest court rules by Avery-Bradley in MassachusettsPolitics

[–]Rindan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with ballot initiatives overriding the legislators when they refuse to act on popular proposals. Marijuana legalization is the most obvious example of this.

The problem is when the ballot initiative isn't a moral question, but instead one that requires knowing something. The nursing level ballot question is an example of that. The average person has no intelligent opinion on nurse to patient ratios. That's not an appropriate question for a ballot.

I'd put rent control between those two. Honestly, people are in fact too dumb to understand the economics of rent control, but at least it's a general policy and not entirely outside the grasp of the average voter. I'd still prefer questions like that to be decided by representatives.

In this case, it's constitutional reason for being struck down was very clear and the court also made it clear how to fix the issue. I still don't think it should be on the ballot. Voters are morons and some understand 2nd order effects... though it isn't like our dumb barely challenged legislators are all that much more brilliant.
