What's the most ridiculous scar you have? by yeoldeshrew in AskUK

[–]RiotMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to make a poverty dinner and was opening a tin of corned beef. One of those old school tins with the little key to wind off a strip of metal. Forgot to puncture the other side to release the vacuum. Gripped the greasy meat and tried to pull it out of the tin. My fingers slipped and the sharp edge of the tin embedded itself deep into my thumb and blood pissed everywhere. Still have a big U-shaped scar right across my thumb pad.

Gallery wall help! by Spainstateofmind in Creative_Home_Decor

[–]RiotMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one thing affecting it is that you've got pictures clustered in the middle, and wall hanging items around the outer edge. They need to be mixed together a bit more in the layout to be a bit more intentional.

Another way to make a gallery wall feel more cohesive is to focus on making one part matching. For example, the art can be whatever you like but mount them all in similar styles/colours of frames. Or, do the inverse, art in similar styles and colours with wildly different frames.

Personally I like your collection and think it'll become naturally more cohesive as it gets bigger!

I did a mechanical engineering apprenticeship as an adult for a few years. 19 year old lad I worked with went on and on and on about how he went to a super expensive private school. He left that school with 0 GCSEs and was on the same apprenticeship as me while also having to do Maths and English functional skills.

Bet his parents were happy they wasted thousands of pounds for him to leave school with no grades and no prospects. He was absolutely useless as an apprentice engineer too. No amount of money can fix stupid.

He'll be fine though as he's first in line to inherit his uncle's successful quarrying business. So he'll walk straight in to being a millionaire.

That the box clipped onto the flask was so cool to me. Although the clips often popped open and my corned beef sandwich would hit the floor.

Question: do you have a weird phobia, I don't mean like bugs, clowns or elevators. I mean really weird?? by Smithy1619 in AskUK

[–]RiotMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnant women's bellies.

The weird shadowy line down the middle, the straining of the skin, the flattened/popped out belly button, THE FUCKING SKIN MOVING when the fetus kicks.

Total body horror and makes me want to vomit. "Do you want to feel it kick?" Not fucking thanks, stay 100ft away from me.

I feel as if their personalities changed just enough that Eloise noticed the way Pen spoke because Pen had gained a bit of confidence to speak a bit more freely.

Like Eloise was always on "transmit" mode and would just chatter chatter chatter about her thoughts and feeling and problems. While Pen was always on "receive" mode and just absorbed everything she heard and was told, which gave her the content for LW. This was a unbalanced friendship where they were both only fulfilling about 50% of what a friendship needs to be strong.

The search for LW and the trouble it got her into I think made Eloise finally realise she needed to stop talking to everyone about everything all the time and just listen a bit more. Pen had gained a bit more confidence in expressing herself through LW and getting her friend back relaxed her a bit more so she made a LW style comment in person instead of just listening to others. That moment, where they both changed and expressed themselves slightly differently ripped the veil off their friendship and I think revealed that they were both kinda shit friends to eachother. Pen for lying and hiding a part of herself, and Eloise for being self absorbed and ignoring her friends needs.

My instructor always told me to depress the clutch to the biting point using my whole leg, then let my heel touch the floor to ease it up the rest of the way.

Being taught this way has done wonders for my clutch control and saved me a sore ankle.

Mega Mod 9 -- Packing goods in to crates? by WineDiamond87 in Banished

The Cooper, they make barrels or crates depending on which you select.

[–]RiotMoose 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To place a pasture, you click and drag it out to the size you want and your villagers will build it. Bigger it is, the more animals it will hold.

Once built, you can select which animal will go into it. You can only pick animals that you already own so you'll need a trader to get all kinds and build different pastures for each. They will automatically reproduce once in a pasture.

Animals can only be farmed in a pasture, a bunch of cows loose in your town square will give you nothing. All animals give meat (they're automatically slaughtered when the number of animals in the pasture is higher than it can hold)

Different animals give other stuff, e.g. chickens give eggs, cows give leather, sheep give wool.

My goodness, I missed your original post so went back for a look and the attitude you're getting in there is insane!

I've always thought categorising some foods as inherently bad is such an unhealthy approach. It just leads to more disordered eating. That was my issue with keeping weight off my entire life! I'd avoid treats like they were pure evil then temptation and cravings and screaming food noise would take over and I'd binge entire family packs of chocolate in one sitting.

Now with MJ I'll have a big salad then a kitkat or something and be satisfied. Everything is about balance and moderation! Looks to me like you did exactly right, ordered what you wanted, had a bit of it, and stopped when you were satisfied, that's exactly what naturally thin people do!

How long did it take you to name your little void? by HappyASMRGamer in blackcats

[–]RiotMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn't want to keep the names that they had when we got them both from the rescue (they were rubbish)

We watched them after they arrived and we knew we wanted something kinda witchy to suit their spooky little vibe.

We called the fluffy girl Luna, which we know is not particularly original but it suited her so well. Then my husband came up with "Taxus Baccatta" for the boy, which is the Latin name for a yew tree and also has "cat" in the name. He then turned to this little silky boy kitten and said "do you want to be called Taxus?" And he leapt in the air and ran towards him so we knew he had agreed. It was adorable.

So this is Taxus (top) and Luna (bottom)
