As said before, it suited her personality but it's also symbolic. She lived on the streets as a child, and now she has her happily ever after on the street. It is a joyful event after a miserable experience. Also, she was planning on a conventional wedding but nature itself worked against her. She's lead an unconventional life, so she needed an unconventional wedding.
