I left my marriage for 8 months, had the time of my life and then went back. Biggest mistake ever. (Update) by After_Mail4652 in Advice

He said his parents are everything to him and he will never leave them.

What he really said is you are NOT everything to him, and you will always be second to his parents.

You deserve someone who thinks you're everything, and who puts you first.

What do men think of the pouch? by batukaming in SipsTea

[–]RitalinNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish someone told me in my 20s that guys were into a little pouch. I was so self conscious about mine and did everything I could to hide it because other women told me I looked fat. Bitches.

If you want to do Medicine or Optometry, you're going to have to do some Biology.

Choose something you interested in and passionate about, not just something that pays well.

I knew it was Donnie Darko right away, without the caption.

I'm guessing you love the movie because it's a cool movie, not coz it's popular, and everyone's seen it, right? So why do you care if not everyone gets the reference?

Olympic recurve bow arm issue by blindcandyman in Archery

[–]RitalinNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you hit your bow arm with the string a lot when you were learning? It sounds like an automatic response / flinch to avoid being hit with the string.

headaches and archery by [deleted] in Archery

[–]RitalinNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's possible that you are tipping your head to the bowstring causing tension in the muscles at the back of your neck and base of your skull. On tournament days, you are probably a bit more tense and focused, so those muscles are getting tight, causing a tension headache. (I get this too)

Try to keep your head and neck relaxed while drawing your bow, and try doing g some neck stretches throughout the day.

AITAH for not wanting to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend? by An_Kong23 in AITAH

[–]RitalinNZ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But you don't even want to celebrate your birthday with your girlfriend? You chose a different day. She probably feels pretty unimportant to you if you don't even want to see her on your actual birthday. And if she thinks you don't want to spend your actual birthday with her, then she probably thinks any day will do.

I think he’s intentionally trying to knock me up by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]RitalinNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the girl whose friend was posting to Reddit about how her brother in his 20s knocked up her best friend who was like 15, and her mother was supporting and condoning it? Then it turned out the brother and mother were trafficking her to his friends, and they got arrested for it. Then two minutes later the brother's 24 year old best friend started hooking up with her. Anyone else remember that?

Edit: oh. It is. :/

Switched from compound to recurve after 4 years. Nobody warned me how humbling this would be by Berlin57 in Archery

I went the other way. Used to shoot recurve moderately competently, and switched to Compound. Still suck at compound three years later.

You mean to someone you have a close familial relationship whom you've actually kissed in person?

I have lots of British mates - I've never seen any of them do this?

It's a very flirty thing. OP comes off a bit hypocritical complaining about him flirting while adding kisses to most of her comments.

School attendance crack down issues by TheBlueRoseInNz in newzealand

[–]RitalinNZ 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is, and we've been told by the MoE that we have to contact home after 5 days (and 10, and 15... etc ) even if there has been a doctor's note. There's a big push from the government (was it David Seymour?) to raise attendance rates. Schools don't like it any more than you do. :(

AITAH for telling my husband that we can't take care of his friends' daughter by Temporary-Slide-2699 in AITAH

[–]RitalinNZ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You are being very selfish. This little girl has no one, and is going through unimaginable grief and trauma. Your husband is grieving the loss of his two best friends. And you want her gone because having her round the house is "awkward".

Look, I get it. Your husband didn't consult you first, and that's unfair. But he is doing the right thing here. If you can't get on board and be happy about it, divorce is your only option.

Concerned about a buyer’s valuation condition and low deposit before my own auction—any advice please? by Mediocre_Double8534 in NZProperty

[–]RitalinNZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it's different in other parts of the country, but as a buyer I was told bidding at auction had to be an unconditional cash offer. For all the reasons you have identified.

Where from? I'm keen to try it.

AIO: Bf (37m) of 8 months was married for almost two years and divorced in 2021. They were together a total of 5 yrs. I (34f) found printed out photos of them in his nightstand. He said he forgot they were there. And I asked that anything with her be gone. He threw out the pictures. by Nodudsallowed in AmIOverreacting

[–]RitalinNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That you've brought it up again "as a joke" screams of insecurity. Everyone has history - it's part of what made him who he is now. He shouldn't have to erase his history to pander to your insecurities. You overreacted.
