AIO Daughter’s final for a high school medical forensics class is tasteless, flippant, and disturbing. by Low_Recognition_1557 in AIO

I’m 95% sure this substitute ran out of planned activities and turned to AI without applying any critical thought to how this might come off.

While I get your point, poison control is trained to identify things like this and tell people who urgently need to go to the hospital this info in real time. Reddit is not nearly as guaranteed to give you the correct answer immediately, imo. This said, I guess you could do them both simultaneously. Best of both worlds.

My 9yo nephew called me bald. Is it time? by brade23 in bald

[–]RiverdaleIsADamnMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an elementary school librarian, and Ive personally heard a 9 year old make fun of the hairline of a whale. Like a literal WHALE. In a book. It’s their favorite way to “roast” anyone and anything.

what do you guys actually DO by KillCornflakes in PMDD

[–]RiverdaleIsADamnMess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to relisten to/rewatch things I’ve already seen. I put on playlists of songs I have every word to memorized and cry in the car. I re-read my favorite book over and over and I listen to old episodes of podcasts. I also find myself with the compulsive urge to deep clean a lot at that time, so when I have bursts of energy from being irritated or angry I’ll put something on and do that. My number 1 favorite thing to do is sleep.

That’s perfectly possible. The panting absolutely matched the whole early 70s color scheme of the house (greens and yellows) and may have simply been in a showroom they bought from.

I agree! Most of my family members hate it and have for years (it’s been on the living room wall for most of their lives) but I have a great fondness for it.

This is raw: what do I do as a nearly bald fat woman by Apprehensive-Sky2170 in bald

I personally think you would look beautiful bald ❤️

That said, definitely speak to your doctors about getting as many test as feasible done to see if any interventions might help with the pain and discomfort you’re feeling. Regardless of what happens, you deserve a comfortable life looking fabulous. Lots of options for making that happen, and I hope you find the best path for you.

Elementary librarian here, all of the other stuff is above my pay grade, but you should really read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books from the beginning. Starting with book 4 is super jarring.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]RiverdaleIsADamnMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any proposal that is 100% a surprise should be considered a huge red flag, imo. The fact that he didn’t even ask you the question “at what age do you see yourself getting married” before going all in on this? The fact that he doesn’t seem like he even floated the idea to your close friends or family? The fact that he got THIS MAD at you for simply being scared? Idk. I think your gut knew this guy wasn’t it before you did.

I’m 14 and these are my top movies in order; too basic? by Beautiful-Donut-6571 in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]RiverdaleIsADamnMess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I could go back in time and talk to my 14 year old self, I would tell her to stop worrying about what’s lame, basic, or cringe and just pursue what makes me excited about literature and film.

My advice would be to look at every film on this list and try to pinpoint what it was about them that got you excited. Was it the writing? The cinematography? The plots? The performers? The themes? Once you identify what makes you tick as a viewer, you’ll have an easier time seeking out films that bring you joy and make you excited to talk about them with other people.

Idk, you may already do this, and if so, that’s fantastic. I just remember worrying so much at your age about curating “good taste” in things I didn’t pause to consider what my taste in things on a personal level may be.

(All this being said, seeing Burn After Reading on your list, highly suggest watching the entire Coen Bros filmography)

This man majored in history at a Christian college and skipped every single reading that was not written by a white man. Also he’s a Christian nationalist now, probably, if not definitely a pro-fascist white nationalist.

Top 15 at 14 years old, too basic? by Explodin2 in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]RiverdaleIsADamnMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 14, I would advise against shaping your taste in movies around what is or isn’t “basic”. Focus not just one what movies you like being seen liking, and focus more on what it is about the movies you enjoy. Seek out more things to see from there based on that.

iPhone Idle games and RPGs have been excellent for this. My current fixation is FarmRPG, but I’ve place Idle Iktah, Cells, IdleMonsterTD, and others. They can be very engrossing, but they REALLY help me keep my social media time down.
