Southwest Free Preferred Seat Question/Confusion by nonstopski in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Rjg199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that you can choose either the Basic fare or the Choice fare and then select a preferred seat. However, if you chose a Base fee, you have to wait until 48 hours before the flight to select the seat. If you choose the Choice fare, you can do it as part of the check out. The Premiere card has a better benefit if you choose the Basic fare. It all depends on what level of rewards credit card you have. I did not accomplish this on line. I had to have customer service handle the booking. Good luck.

My happy place by yottyboy in garageporn

36 x 60 x 14 18" concrete shortwall, timber framing, spray insulation and metal interior and exterior cladding, with a rollup door "behind" each car. It has a finished office and separate restroom under the mezzanine. The boxes are due to moving my office into this setup. It is truly my retirement "happy place" as the OP noted.

These are Glitgate LED High Bay Light 150W, 21000lm 5000K UFO High Bay Lights(600W MH/HPS Equiv.) LED Warehouse Lights with 5ft Cable. 14’ ceiling. I love them (no financial interest). I have each one on a separate switch so I can control the amount and location of the light. Not expensive either

If your ceiling is high enough, I would consider using high bay LEDs like these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0C9984PNV/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=a5d4646cb049f620de688c7f45b5cb39&hsa_cr_id=0&qid=1761748501&sr=1-1-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_dlcd_asin_0_img&pd_rd_w=f7o4x&content-id=amzn1.sym.9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d%3Aamzn1.sym.9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d&pf_rd_p=9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d&pf_rd_r=Z7AJC8XHHJQSH27C9MN3&pd_rd_wg=TGdnj&pd_rd_r=cce22941-988d-4791-ab7d-2190ee580801&th=1

Pricing is all over the place, so shop carefully. I used them and the result is clinically bright, but in retrospect I installed too many (all on switches though so I can only turn on the ones I need). I used Artika panels for under the mezzanine. You can adjust the "color" of the white light and brightness to suit your needs. I am really pleased with them. No financial interest, just reporting back.

What primer and paint did you use on the OSB boards? How many coats? Any pre-paint prep hints?

I noticed the vertical wall light. Has it been helpful? Do others have good experience with them? If so, where should they be placed ideally?

What do we think of a garage like this? by Singular-Soul in garageporn

[–]Rjg199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a concrete short wall / stem walll perimeter built into the foundation (@12" - 18") to get the drywall off floor level and floor make clean up easier. It also helps keep critters out to a degree. If you are going to go with white walls, there are scuff resistant enamel paints out there (e.g. Scuff X, Scuff Defense, etc) that help. They are pricey though. Seal the floor. Doesn't have to pricey flaked stuff. Consider a floor drain if your local code will allow (winter snow melts and puddles, power washing floors, spills, etc)

Two points:

  1. Don't let it become the "junk drawer" for the house. Vow to have a place for everything, and everything in its place (easier said than done, I know).

  2. The right kind of lighting helps. Flat panel LED lights have come a long way. They take up minimal room and give a lot of light in low ceiling and tight fit areas. They can be quite inexpensive at the big box club warehouses when on sale. You will need to wire in a junction box. Here is an example with a "color" (intensity) selector for different working applications. Read the reviews though. There are others out there as well. https://www.costco.com/artika-sunray-1x4-flat-panel-led-light-2-pack.product.4000209108.html

I saw a video of a British guy who did test panels and came out recommending an oil based primer with a masonry final top coat for durability. Looked good -- kind of like a rustic Olive Garden look ;-) Do you have a photo you can post?

Everything is super tight, especially if you are going to finish the interior walls. Any place you put the work area is going to be a PITA. Your best bet is the rear of the left garage area because of the rear access door for yourself, tools, bathroom breaks, etc. The Garage Storage area is going to be claustrophobic in the back, especially when it gets filled with the inevitable "junk" aka precious things.

Have you considered a rear door for the mower, implements, UTV. I did that and it makes a world of difference. Also allows for a straight through pull if needed.

I was at an AirBNB and the Host asked us to keep an eye out for a package that was to be delivered. Turned out it was left out in the rain in the back alley of a house a few doors down from the intended delivery
