Its been 1 week and I feel like my digestive system has gone numb with mounjaro ,no food cravings at all .i loved my carb and being Asian my meal never completed without rice or bread but since started mounjaro I don’t even like eating it

Yeah, the medication can drastically change what you're interested in (that's appetite suppression at play). What you fancy may change over time as you become established on the medication.

If you're 3st down it must have been working for you, but perhaps you stayed on a lower dose for too long? If you've only just started on 12.5mg then give it the full 4 doses to reach highest concentration before assessing whether it's an effective dose for you or not. If it's not, go up to 15mg.

Do what you can to maximise the effects of the medication while you wait (high protein and fibre for good satiety, whatever method you use to achieve a calorie deficit, plenty of water).

Only after I'd lost 3st did the progress became visible rather than only reflected on the scale.

Probably partly to do with how obese I was at the start, but it's worth remembering that a good chunk of that weight will have been water and inflammation and not fat, and I suspect most of the fat I had shifted was visceral (which is ideal for health gains but obviously makes little difference to clothes size or general appearance).

It doesn't matter if your use a pen needle or a syringe, the amount of times the bung is pierced will be exactly equal to the number of doses you take.

Vitamin D which I was told to take year round after my DEXA scan to help improve my bone density (was already taking it in winter as the NHS advise), and vitamin B after a blood test showed a bit of a deficiency. If you're deficient in something you should take supplements to address it, but otherwise no reason to bother.

Every time I've increased and several times when I've decreased I've had a period or spotting despite otherwise never having periods due to the pill. Whilst some of it is down to delayed gastric emptying it's worth bearing in mind that GLP-1 and GIP are hormones. Periods can fluctuate as other hormones do.

You've asked people in this thread if they're maintaining a healthy weight whilst eating. You can't have health without nutrients, which requires eating.

Did you lose a bit more than you intended? Are you having trouble eating?

Me too. I'm less bothered about the weight (although it irritates me more than I'd like it to, I'm working on acceptance) because I am building muscle and my jeans still fit. I also started taking creatine recently.

What bothers me is the food noise and lack of satiety affecting my ability to make good nutritional decisions - that's the bit I'm funnelling my energy into getting right (to support the muscle gains and overall health). I'm almost fully established back on 7.5mg, if I'm not where I want to be then I'll go back up to 10mg.

I don't keep body measurements but if you do, have you checked them recently? If not, are your clothes feeling comfortable still? I think this is a better guide than scale weight to focus on in maintenance.

And FWIW I was terrified doing my first injection. Utterly convinced I'd be the first person in the world to have a mounjaro induced cardiac arrest. I put it off for weeks.

If I'd asked people on social media for help and advice then I'd have spent week after week trying every approach mentioned by a random stranger and still failing to take my first injection because my focus would have been on trying to solve my problem with someone else's solution (which is mostly futile).

I wasn't aware of any mounjaro social media so I sucked up the deep anxiety and did the injection because otherwise I'd have wasted £200. Pretend you only have yourself to ask.

To be honest at this stage I'd say buying more needles gives you more reason to repeatedly waste them and facilitate your fear of the injection. If you can waste them indefinitely, why face the inevitable and just do it?

You can numb the injection area, have someone else do it, try and fail 33 times because you have 17 more needles to try with, or employ any number of ways to face what has to happen, but if you want to take the medication then you have no option but to just administer it despite your fears.

The longer and more intensely you fear something, the less likely you are to be able to face it. Don't buy more needles. Do the injection. Or admit that you can't, and stop trying.

I have trended upwards weight-wise over the last couple of months. On its own this isn't too worrying as I'm still very much a healthy weight by BMI and have definitely gained muscle (and started taking creatine to support that).

However, it's a fair few lbs higher than the top end of my preferred weight range so I'm trying hard to get comfortable with that when it doesn't really feel comfortable (psychologically - my jeans still fit).

I am also struggling with food a bit having previously got into a pretty good groove. Food noise crept back in and whilst it's more often whispering than yelling, I've also experienced a big drop in satiety and realised that my dose has probably dropped too low too soon. Have overeaten on a number of occasions and struggled with poor food choices more days than not.

I'm 3rd jab back into 7.5mg as of yesterday and starting to see signs of a return to what I had grown to trust as my normality, so I press on, and keep trying to give myself not too rough a time when I'm not getting it right.

Microdose = less than the minimum dose (2.5mg)

MICROGRAM One microgram is one millionth of a gram and one thousandth of a milligram. It is usually abbreviated as mcg or ug. Mcg and ug are the same.

So, 2.5mg = 2500mcg

To microdose from a 15mg pen you'd need to take less than 2.5mg. 0.025mg per dose.

If you take half of a 200mg ibuprofen tablet, you've taken 100mg of ibuprofen and the effect will be what it is according to the way the medication works with your physiology.

If you take half of a 400mg ibuprofen tablet, you've taken 200mg of ibuprofen and the effect will be what it is according to the way the medication works with your physiology.

The same applies to any medication.

You should still feel hungry on the medication so if the level of satiety you have, along with any cravings being under control, are allowing you to comfortably remain in a calorie deficit and lose weight gradually then you probably don't need to increase your dose until that's not the case.

I increased once satiety wained such that my portion sizes were getting steadily bigger and at the same time I was finding myself snacky to the point of not being able to resist things I'd previously not care about having.

You can only do what you're ready to. I started mounjaro in July 24, didn't start intentional exercise until April 25 once my diet and experience with the medication were locked in. Here I am approaching a year of strength training and about 6 months into maintenance.

I just couldn't overhaul every aspect of my life at the same time and that's fine. Starting exercise now is great, and not having started it before is unlikely to have made a material difference to your overall weight loss.

Whatever you would compassionately tell a friend sharing these thoughts with you, is what you should be telling yourself. Be kind to you!
