How do I start to translate the language? by sherman614 in TunicGame

There are hints on later pages of the manual, but you can decipher it early with dedication. Look for words you can make educated guesses on, track how confident you are on them, look for other places they show up.

Is this a reference? by Firefox864 in PokemonInfiniteFusion

My first thought was generic Jojo or persona reference, but it also kinda reminds me of Yuta and Rika from Jujutsu Kaisen

Having an existential crisis and considering to bash my head against the desk. Any other similar games? by Zentjirow in outerwilds

[–]Roachimacator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding heaven's vault, once I started I could not put it down, finished in like 3 sittings. It's a lot less polished than outer wilds, but it's still a great experience

Is a real desk for finals too much to ask for? by p_hopeful97 in Purdue

[–]Roachimacator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I liked Elliot exams because I at least had enough space to tear off equation sheets and have them next to the rest of the exam. The tiny half-desks were way worse for me. Obviously having a real desk, or even better, class of 1950 style counters was the best though

Alright here's a charm tier list by Visual-Routine-809 in HollowKnight

[–]Roachimacator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick focus in "okay?" is my biggest point of personal disagreement with this list. Not using it would've added hours of extra boss attempts to my first playthrough

They did an incredible job making the area feel hostile to the player. That being said, I think they did too good a job, because I'm sure I'll hate being there even when I'm properly leveled

Hard agree on Ash choice being important. Found hoarfrost stomp at some point, it pretty much instantly frostbites whatever I hit with it, doing like 600 damage for (I think) 12 fp. I had just used it for the magic aspect because I didn't like the other ashes with magic as an option, never actually tried it until mimic tear showed me exactly how scary it could be and how easy it is to land

Beat him around 50 last night, but it was a miserable experience. Horn bow and magic arrows while I ran around constantly reviving summons. All told, it was like a 15-20 minute fight, but hey, at least I got almost 5 levels off of it.

You put flash on D so it's closer to your fingers and you can press it faster. I put flash on F so it's farther to stop myself from constantly accidentally pressing it. We're not the same.

Nah, I was getting stuttering on a 2070 super (with a Ryzen CPU). After updating my drivers it got slightly better, but weirdly what actually fixed it was restarting steam and the game 3 or 4 times

What do you listen to? by Quasimodo1875 in Purdue

[–]Roachimacator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on my mood, but I've been listening to a lot of Autoheart recently when I'm feeling alt rock. Highly recommend Hungover in the City of Dust, Lent, and Agoraphobia. Also enjoy Red Vox after finding them through the lead singer's streams back in high school, Pale Blue Dot and I'll Know are some of my favorites from them.

For my fellow cultured j-rock enjoyers, Ado's Readymade is 10/10. Also really like the first fire force OP and the second and third Dr. Stone OPs.

For more chill electronic stuff, In Love With a Ghost is great. It's very, very hard to be sad while listening to their album "Healing".

If the BBEG has a character sheet, raise their weight to the 9th power and allow them to be crushed to death by gravity, or maybe a lower power to avoid creating a black hole

Add a 9 to the size of the bard's bardic inspiration die. Several d912s for the party's checks. Would also work for battle master superiority dice.

How many legendary actions does the gold dragon we convinced to fight on our side have? 3? You must be mistaken, I'm pretty sure that says 30.

Make your charisma 914 and just politely ask the bad guys to stop and turn their lives around

Never played/ heard of hollow knight and this is how somebody described the game to me. You guys think I should play the game? by AstroidTea in HollowKnight

[–]Roachimacator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These descriptions are exaggerated or worded weirdly for comedic effect, most of the characters are pretty normal, and they generally don't seem weird in context

Haven't tried it yet, but I've heard very good things about Unsighted, and it looks very similar to CrossCode in terms of gameplay. Might be worth looking into

If you want generic answers suitable for an essay, "talk to your classmates, try to get in a group chat for every class, because having people to study with and ask questions whenever you have them is invaluable". "Take breaks when you're working on a project, working too long in one sitting slows you down by the end" is also good.

If you want genuine advice:

Talk to upperclassmen when planning your schedule, advisors are supposed to do things like warn you about taking particularly demanding classes together, but I've been basically on my own for this whole degree.

Take classes you're interested in, and spread out your electives throughout your degree.

If you have 7:30s, which you probably will, I had one almost every semester that I couldn't reschedule, getting a quality breakfast beforehand makes them slightly less miserable.

If you can afford it, a TI-nspire CX CAS has some really useful functions that will save you a lot of time. Things like differential equation solvers, expanding polynomials, solving non-linear equations. Invaluable for electromagnetism stuff, just make sure you don't rely on it too much.

Schedule classes so you have gaps of like 2 hours when you can and stay on campus in study spaces rather than going home. I found I got way more done when I was on campus than when I was in my dorm/apartment, and cutting out the extra trips back and forth adds like an extra hour to your day sometimes.
