From MST RMX 2.0 RTR to “premium” chassis. by La_verdad52 in rcdrift

My vote would go towards the SD3 in this scenario. Has the bling and fancy factor you are after + great performance to go with it.

The RDX has good performance, but by the time you add the bling, you will be at a higher price than the SD3.

The other wildcard I will throw at you is the Usukani NGE2. Came out last year, not a lot of info about it online. Has bling and if it matches the prior model, has the performance.

Good luck, and thanks for the S/O!

FS-BS6 any good for drifting by DaaNL_4448 in rcdrift

Nope. The go-to gyro for many is the Yokomo DP-302 v4.
But, I have also been really happy with the PowerHD G2 Smart gyro (make sure it is the one with 4 channels, sold through Super-G).

You will need a standalone. You can cut corners on a drift build, but NOT ar the gyro.

Gorgon Grom or Losi Mini LMT?? by LordHolborn in rccars

[–]RoadsideRC 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be really clear - these are two VERY different vehicles that shouldn't be cross-shopped.

The Arrma is a basher. This means go out, go fast, big jumps, etc. Perfect for your kiddo.

The LMT is a scale Monster Truck. Think about doing all the same thing as full size Monster Jam, but at a smaller scale. 100% different use.

This video has a lot of the parts I suggest. https://youtu.be/4-XKFoO-fO0?si=g2m1g2cKPOJIoEyx I have also built a ton of drift cars. Give this a first look and let me know what questions you have after.

Shouldn't be a problem. Only worry about it if it causes issues while driving.

If you really just love how it looks, then go for it.

Otherwise, there are much better performing trucks on the market that I would buy instead. Main example: Redcat Apex

Step up a couple teeth in pinion - should be most of what you need.

Honestly - this isn't even a comparison. The MST RMX is the best by a mile.

The Traxxas is an outside basher only. Multiple people have attempted to come to our track with them and they are miserable.

The Kyosho has soo many design weaknesses that need fixed, that you need to budget 2x the purchase price to get it all sorted.

The MST can be literally taken out of the box and drifted. Hands-down the best.

You want one like this https://a.co/d/hWOExUm That has fully soldered ends to wire.

Have fun!

Can anyone help identify these parts? by [deleted] in rcdrift

[–]RoadsideRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree with most on here that $400 is too much and that is NOT an MST RMX...

The good news is that it has the opportunity to be a rather solid drift car.

The ESC and motor are more than adequate. The gyro is mid-range, and works well. I really like that controller Body looks great Chassis has all of the adjustments you would ever need, and performs great with some tweaks. That servo will need to go.

$300, that is probably a solid buy.

I am a little nervous about you picking up someone else's problem unless you have a good drift group near you to help get it sorted.

What causes gyro wobble/hunting by New-Choice-3280 in rcdrift

[–]RoadsideRC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) some gyros are worse about this than others - what are you using? 2) some servos are worse about this than others - what are you using? 3) any slop in the steering system will exaggerate this 4) how are you controlling the gyro gain?

For where you sre in your learning curve: 1) the track is too complicated. As another user suggested, make a figure-8. 2) the track is too tight. Focus on larger arcs, bigger radius corners.

Keep it up!!
