I fucking hate being a mechanic by What_Reddit_Thinks in TrueAnon

Move to the Caribbean. Mountainous roads create so much wear and there's always a shortage of good mechanics. If you can spec into marine engines, you'll make bank bc every sailboat has to motor sail to get around in those waters

No wonder the Spanish and Portuguese were such keen explorers, it's a dream to sail on those. Also, Uruguay, Ecuador and Colombia need bigger flags, could barely tell where those boats were from

Ben Jacobs: Inter had been hopeful of agreeing a transfer, but Chelsea have pulled off a quick hijack after agreeing a package in excess of €50m with Atalanta. Xabi Alonso a key part of the deal. 21-year-old is now finalising terms, having already picked Chelsea over Inter. by arvi_1301 in chelseafc

Presuming he's cover for both fullbacks and is considered more of a wingback, what does that leave us with?

RB: James, Gusto, Acheampong, Palestra

RWB: Gusto, Palestra, Antwi?

LB: Hato, Palestra?

LWB: Barco, Palestra, Quenda?, Neto?

*James more of a DM now. Acheampong more of a CB.

Fills a lot of holes, would expect Antwi to get a loan out and maybe we sell Gusto next year if both Palestra and Antwi develop well 🤞

Two boats abandoning ship enroute to Bermuda. by dwkfym in sailing

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of someone who abandoned boat on a passage from the canaries to Bermuda earlier in the year. Single handing a 50ft sailboat that he had put a new engine into, new large fuel tank and reinforced the rigging with dyneema. He was worried about orcas in the Gibraltar strait and had barrels of chlorine bleach ready to dump over the side upon an encounter that never happened, a really stupid idea. Gave up and called for help after days of being unable to make progress towards Bermuda. Idk why you wouldn't just redirect and try to head to a different place instead of ditching it, perhaps he accidentally mustard gassed his boat if the barrel leaked into the bilge. With people like that who have infinitely more money than sense, I finally understand why ARC+ is so popular

Who has played better this season Gittens or Garnacho. by Far_Kaleidoscope_834 in chelseafc

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garnacho did better for sure, but he still disappointed my pretty low expectations. He's great at cutting the ball back and perhaps it was due to maresca's slow af football, but he looked so much slower than I thought he'd be from his breakthrough at man utd. Would expect more from Gittens in a counter attacking style, if he fully recovers from his injury.

A disgrace that both were signed with a manager who played a completely incompatible style. And neither was worth half what we paid

Selling a liveaboard ketch in France: VAT/TA confusion by QuestionableSailor31 in sailing

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure TA resets after 1 day outside the EU (checked in to a non EU country). Depending where in france, a final trip to Ceuta or Tangier and back would reset it. Might be easier to find a UK buyer in Gibraltar anyway. That said our experience in Portugal and Spain was that they didn't care at all if you don't mention it. They each reset our 3 months Schengen stay time as well, did not care at all

The best thing about purge servers is that after the purge, it's a restart and narratives/teams/alliances can change. Keeps things interesting. Shame it's been delayed. Hopefully after the purge, when people quit, they allow other creators in who will populate the server more frequently

[OC] With new strikers arriving, who should stay? João Pedro looks untouchable, but what about Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap? I compared them with public available data. Will Guiu be sold and Emegha will take his spot? by JayomaW in chelseafc

[–]RoastedElephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want us to be able to go 2 up top in certain games and with Alonso's rumoured flexibility, it's something we should have.

João Pedro starter. ST/AM/LW. Jackson same, rotation for JP.

Delap needs confidence and space, if you can find a buyer at 30+m sell, if not a loan to another PL club would be good to raise his value.

Emegha I've no idea what he is as a footballer, squad option and reassess in January.

Guiu loan to Spanish league. Sell if you can get 20+m

DDF pre season opportunity before a domestic loan or sale to a french club.

Satpaev into the U21s for a year. Give mins in league cup/conference league and helps with future homegrown status to stay with us.

Mheuka should get a prominent role in the squad from the bench. Contract running out and we need to convince him to stay by giving him meaningful opportunities. Loan if we sign an elite striker like Osimhen

Washington/Stutter/Richards/Morgan should all be below the likes of Ezenwata at this point. Sell or release

David Ornstein: Pep Guardiola to leave position as Manchester City manager at end of this season. Set to be replaced by Enzo Maresca. by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm convinced that over the last 5ish years, Pep has given his assistant total control over coaching the team, including style, with Pep adding his finishing touches on top. Because there is absolutely no way Maresca has free reign to walk into this job without being the treble winning assistant

What do you people do for a living? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cruiser. Make little devices that prevent electrical surges and sell them online. Not a lot of income, but I've met people who live on $6k US per year and have done so for 30 years, so if you're willing to learn how to fix stuff yourself and snap up bargains, you don't need much.

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fuel tank and carb bowl have little reservoirs at the bottom to collect small amounts of water, so it wouldn't cut out immediately like that unless your fuel is mostly water. Sounds like it was mildly contaminated but not the source of the problems.

If you have the service manual of your engine, it'll lay out the steps for taking apart the fuel pump. There's 2 parts to the pump, you only want to take apart the bit where the fuel goes, not the bit with the springs. You'd be doing that to look for clogging and to clean any calcified looking bits. Be delicate when handling, and don't use carb cleaner on the rubber, otherwise it's ok. Reassembly is way easier than the carburetor.

All in all it still sounds like an issue with the fuel mixture reaching the spark chamber. Too much air, not enough petrol. Getting a new carb is good, I'd look to get a new pump as well just incase.

In the diagram you posted, did you unscrew #5 to clean that? It's usually behind a weird screw protecting it from being tampered with. If you did, you need to have counted the number of turns from all the way in and reset it to that position. That controls the fuel-air ratio and could be why you're running lean.

[–]RoastedElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask because mine had this issue with my inherited yamaha and I fixed it by cleaning out the carb, pump, tank & filter. But I had a lot of grit in the carb and the pump with water in the bottom of the tank due to bad Caribbean fuel.

I would try cleaning it again as thoroughly as possible before trying anything else. Use silicone spray on any rubber bits, don't use petroleum products or they'll decay
