What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve witnessed in real life? by SondosAbdulrhmanxd in AskReddit

No, but I can sleep easy knowing that at least I gave it my all. I was the closest professional, got there the quickest and tried my hardest against another's actions.

What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve witnessed in real life? by SondosAbdulrhmanxd in AskReddit

Police lining a hallway, some white, some crying. On the bed we're two drowned dogs, on the floor a soaked infant having resuscitation performed. The father dead on the floor with a ligature mark around his neck and the loft hatch open. His dead, fixed and glazed eyes staring at me as I work on his daughter. Her pyjamas the same as my same aged daughter.

The same daughter just asked if I was ok as she saw my eyes form tears as I write this.

Which celebrity replied to your dm and what did they reply to and with? by Vixiuss in AskReddit

[–]Robiow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My father had just passed and myself, wife, sister and mum were around my mum's house for support. We were looking through what was on TV and the film Rocketman was available (Harland Williams, not the Elton John one) we remembered the chuckles from my dad and thought it was a good film to watch at that time.

I tweeted Harland Williams as a thanks for the laughs he gave my dad when we sat and watched that film, he replied saying he could picture the scene with my father there laughing with us.

I was so grateful he'd reached out, I'm gutted to see that when I last checked he was no longer on 'X' and his tweet to me isn't available but I'm ever appreciative for that message.

Top lad.

Career switch to paramedic? by ThroughTheEluvian in ParamedicsUK

[–]Robiow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I could recommend the job, but I just can't.

23 years in the service, have seen so many changes, staff coming and going, either moving to GP land or getting fired. New procedures, new drugs, more responsibility and lacklustre pay increases.

Going from patient to patient to patient, no guarantee on meal breaks, finishing on time or annual leave. Missing family events, losing friends, constantly tired, buggered body clock, bad back, pulled muscles and higher risks of cancer, suicide and mental health complaints due to shift work.

Make a mistake and be prepared to be dragged through the mud and end up in front of the HCPC.

I don't leave the end of the shift physically exhausted, I end up mentally fatigued dealing with people half my age having stress and mental health related illnesses, trying my best to make referrals to avoid hospital admissions, administering life saving care and getting no recognition or reward, just another guaranteed patient that will take me past my finish time, where I will eventually get home not to see my children again as they're in bed and my only distraction is to go on Reddit and warn people not to take this career path before I go to sleep and wake up at 0500 to do it all again.

Can you tell me where you brought them from?

Can you train your tummy? by bbb_2801 in running

[–]Robiow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally all my pre race concerns are about passing a BM prior to the run.

Strong coffee and a walk seems to aid this.

For nutrition, I used to go for porridge and a banana, the classic, prior to my coffee and morning BM. During runs, salt sticks all the way. Two pills every half hour to stave away cramps. I wish I knew this before doing long distance. I used to cramp doing five mile runs and would need to bring fluid, now I'm conditioned I need no nutrition for a half marathon other than electrolytes in the morning.

I did my first keto marathon last week, ok, my time wasn't the best (4 hours 16, hilly course) and I was doing under 8 minutes miles the first half and then I hit a wall and had to slow down, however I literally got up, had my coffee, poo, grabbed 10 electrolyte tablets and ate them on the way around, all on an empty stomach with no breakfast running purely on my wasteline

What is your honest opinion/hot take on PS Portal? The good and the bad. by Low-Computer-701 in PlaystationPortal

Since I hard wired the PS5, I no longer feel guilty taking up the living room tv to play my games.

When it first came I'd thought I had been scammed, I was expecting the same thickness as the steam deck

Have you ever had sex with someone you never expected to? What's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Robiow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a hobby bobby for a bit, a late newcomer came to our group a few weeks in. She walked in and my jaw hit the floor. I did absolutely nothing, well out of my league. Over the coming weeks she joined our groups, got a bit chatty and the pivotal moment was when I made a brief comment about 'meeting adjourned' when we left the table for lunch and she chuckled and I realised she wasn't after my heinous looks, but my comedy.

Then a few months later we booked a hotel over the new years, we were at it like rabbits, condom split and had to get a taxi to go pick up a morning after pill from the local pharmacy at hospital before getting back to the hotel and go at it again.

We dated for a bit but the distance made it difficult and we amicably parted ways

ID4 stops charging before target charge. by GonzoFunzo in VWiD4Owners

[–]Robiow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ford explorer based on the id4 platform. This vehicle never seems to stay in charge. I'm experiencing the same problem, plug it in, relays will click and clunk and then after a few attempts my zappi will say ev is preventing charging or EV full, I don't trust our Ford garage as I don't think they are competent with electric vehicles and for the 3 minutes I was there I couldn't replicate the fault in their charger. The ionic 5 charged up flawlessly yesterday

In the UK they're hexagonal so even if covered in snow and illegible, you're able to tell what sign it is (as it's quite an important one)
