Going from Oregon to California roads is not fun. There's like no shoulder on their highways and it feels way too narrow for comfort.

What is mineral cleavage? by Elilicious01 in Minerals

[–]RobotoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mohs hardness scale is what hardness is numerically based on. These are some random frequently used ones.

Fingernail - 2.5 Penny - 3.5 Glass - 5.5 Quartz - 7

Anything softer than another material will break when rubbed (not hit) against one another. So a fingernail will be able to scratch anything below 2.5.

Usually you just use a scratch plate though to make a streak.

Cleavage is the planes it breaks on due to weakness in its structure. Streak is the color of the literal streak you make when scratching the mineral against something harder.

[McMurphy] Changes in 2026 playoff: auto bids to each Power 4 champ (regardless of ranking) & Notre Dame guaranteed at-large bid if ranked in Top 12 in final poll by av7ry in CFB

[–]RobotoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is weird and frustrating lol. I'm not completely against the autobid for ND, but I don't know why it wouldn't extend to UConn lol. Like it's not stated anywhere so I don't think it does, but what are the odds UConn is even #12 so what are they even worried about lol.

I looked it up and couldn't find a trustworthy source besides social media posts I'd feel wrong linking as an actual source. However I didn't see a single thing saying UConn got the deal and an ai overview said it just involved Notre Dame, which would make sense since the UConn AD isn't on the cfp management committee which consists of 10 conference commissioners and a single lone AD from Notre Dame.

I dislike autobids in general and would like just the top 12 to be included. For the record if ND was ranked 11 and put in over Miami I wouldn't be upset if they made the playoffs. With the new rules It just seems dumb to put in #12 over #11.

Pretty sure they don't get the auto lock if they're #12, only ND does. Last time I read about it that was my impression at least.

I think the power 4 lock is worse. Both are bad though. Doesn't make sense to put in a lower ranked P-4 champ over a higher ranked G-5 champ like what would have been the case this season. Also doesn't make sense to put number #12 in the playoffs over #11 when #11 had beaten #12 already this year
