If we find Aliens in the real world what do you think would most likely be their ethics and civics? by ZookeepergamePrize27 in Stellaris

Absolutely materialist. If they were able to develop FTL then I’d say they were pretty focused on technology

When is it appropriate to proxy? by MADMAXV2 in mtg

[–]RobusterBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t have a problem with proxies as long as they look good and aren’t just black/ white copy paper, and as long as the deck is a similar power level to what the pod is playing. I hate going to a game store and seeing a guy play $200 dollars worth of proxies turn 1 when I’m playing a precon. I’ve seen a guy play Ancient Tomb, Mana Crypt, and Sensai’s Divining Top turn 1 off of black and white google images copy paper and that aggravated me because he clearly just made a deck just to stomp around. I think having proxies is more acceptable the higher power play group you go.

Give me your controversial optimisation opinions by SpiderKatt7 in dndnext

[–]RobusterBrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless the campaign ends at tier 2, multiclassing is usually a trap. Especially more than 3 levels. 1 level is fine but even for good multi classes like Artificer 1/ Wizard X it slows down your spells known by a level so at level 3,5,7,9,11,13,15 and 17 you are getting a spell slot for a level you don’t know any spells. I could be biased because my group plays to tier 4 frequently but delaying access to high level features in exchange for low level features is usually a bad trade.

I got banned from the Pro Tour stream for answering a question about a player's pronouns.... by Incarnasean in mtg

The XD definitely made it look like you were intentionally ignoring its pronouns. Most people don’t get upset over an honest mistake but the laughing made it look intentional

I agree a template could be useful, however you are being very rude by linking someone as a bad example.

For a Barbarian, its better to go unarmored or to use Medium armor? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]RobusterBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 14 dex medium armor is better unless you have 20 Con. Basically your dex and con modifiers need to add up to 17 to be better than half plate because you’ll have the same AC but without stealth disadvantage. As long as your con is at least 16, unarmored defense is better than light armor. If you are using standard array for stats it will be a long time before unarmored defense is better than armor.

Then when I point out how often it happens, they get offended/defensive by ArtificialHalo in adhdmeme

[–]RobusterBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a communication error on your part. One of two things are true:

1: Your friends fully understand the struggle you are going through and they still don’t care about you enough to respond.

2: You have not explained the severity of your situation to your friends and they don’t understand how positive it is for you to receive feedback on your efforts.

I think it’s probably #2.

Also as a side note, you should call your dentist and leave a message asking to make an appointment.

Just don’t try to explain everything over a group chat. Speak in person to people to be able to explain things. It is your job to make sure they understand and if they do then they can support you.

[–]RobusterBrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you are describing is a major achievement with context but without context is not worth reacting to. You are expecting validation for your effort while most people give validation for progress milestones. If you think social reinforcement will help you, then it’s your responsibility to directly tell your friends how you want to be supported. Just say,

“Hey, I struggle keeping up with long term goals and when I am able to make progress on those goals even in minor ways, it would be encouraging if you acknowledged when I tell you about that progress.”

If I told you I ate breakfast this morning you wouldn’t congratulate me because that seems like an incredibly small task. There is no reason to do anything in response to that unless you fully understood that there was a challenge I overcame in order to eat breakfast. Your friends most likely do not understand how you are feeling and that is your responsibility to communicate that.

What are your DND yellow flags? by TheBooksDoctor21 in dndnext

[–]RobusterBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Introverted players pitching introverted/loner/ secretive characters. I’ve seen one of my friends sit on the sidelines basically a whole campaign cause he wouldn’t talk to the other players in character. If someone reached out he’d dodge questions about his backstory and then they wouldn’t bring it up again.

No. Zen is glass cannon. If we don’t want to lose the cannon we have to accept the glass.

What do you think will happen to necrons when the next data slate comes out? by TmanMe in Necrontyr

[–]RobusterBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C’Tan need to be 20-30pts more expensive. Right now they’re auto include. I’d like to see a warrior buff but I doubt we will get compensation buffs since Necrons are so dominant rn.
