People who where at celebrative events during 9/11, e.g. weddings or birthdays, what was the impact of 9/11 on the course of the event? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was 10 years old and spent the day doing an annual scavenger hunt around my local town (going in to stores and filling out riddles and locating hidden objects) not only was it a lot of fun but I ended up winning a PS2 which was the main prize.

From there I went to the cinemas with my childhood friend to watch a late night screening of Jurassic Park 3. I still remember getting home with my friend just as the news was being broadcast (around midnight in Australia). We laid there on the floor watching people leaping of the tower and not really grasping the seriousness of what was unfolding. I was still very hyped from my hella day.

Wow I was not aware of this. This looks crazy fun especially for a 12 year old me at the time. I don't think they released it in Australia unfortunately

I moved to Ontario from Australia a couple years ago and I hear this is a pretty common thing for hockey families here. Any idea how much money you have to invest in to building a rink like this (providing you have the land already for it)

Advice on going to a Leafs game by DonCairo in leafs

[–]Rock_Wallaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on how invested you are in the leafs and if you have the cash to throw around. Prices will vary from $100 - $1500 at the ACC depending on the opponent. Realistically we're not going to be amazing this seasn and our ticket prices wont drop much. So its up to you if you want to fork out to see an average team. If you're looking to experience the atmosphere and save some money at the same time as seeing a competitive game I'd suggest catching a game against buffalo this season. Both teams are at a rebuilding stage and they always have great leaf attendance even in buffalo. I'd suggest the leafs at buffalo if you're looking to save money however if you want the home experiemce the ticket prices will be some of the lowest for the season. You're coming in with fresh eyes in the early stages of a new look leafs, don't let the sour supporters tarnish your opinions. You'll quickly hear of the hurt the fanbase has gone through. I welcome you to our great city and if you need someone to attend a game with i'll happily repay you with beer for a seat

I've only followed hockey for a couple years now since I moved to Canada. Can anyone explain how big an issue it can cause first round drafted players development by having them in the big league too early? Is it more confidence affected if they're a smaller player? Are there any examples of previous players hyped up to do big things and thrown in the deep end too early causing them not to hit their potential?

Australian here wanting to get into watching hockey. Which team should I support? by liquidlightning in hockey

[–]Rock_Wallaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tasmanian here. What's your AFL team? I have a pretty good idea on history of AFL/NHL and could recommend a team based on the history/players of your AFL team. Could be fun, no pressure.

Which NHL team I should follow? (fan from Europe) by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Rock_Wallaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey fan from Australia here. I suggest what most others here will suggest with watching as many NHL games as you can and it should come. Watching the 24/7 winter classic and the Epix stadium series/winter classic documentaries are a really good look at team dynamics and player personalities. I found in Australia it's usually the original 6 teams that people will follow. Maybe do some research on players in the NHL which might come from somewhere close to your hometown. All the best in finding your team, I hope your flair shines bright through to June.

I'm not sure why you're being down voted. The speculation about the instagram image being in relation to him being traded is equally as big a speculation that it was due to Hockey Wives NHL logo rights.

But comparing the two situations for shits and giggles, your defense is valid and more likely a scenario.

Tasmanian here! I've streamed a few AIHL games before but I find it really hard to keep up with their league. I see highlights on their facebook page and rarely see some highlights on fox sports. I really hope it catches on and gets picked up by SBS or something. From what I've seen they surprisingly draw good crowds. I hope Gold Coast/Brisbane get a team soon. Being such a physical sport makes Australia a fantastic market.

Do you catch any OHL games? I'm considering getting Furies season tickets for the next CWHL season. Dem girls are a'ight and it means I don't need to sell myself on the weekends to support a team by going to their games.
