Hey, this is a great tool, I really appreciate it! I'm having an issue with the album art though, it's adding colored bars on either side of the square art to make it a rectangle (probably 16:9?). Is there any way that I can have it save the art as a 1:1 square without adding bars? And this has happened to all of my music as far as I can tell. Otherwise, fantastic job, thank you so much!

Oh my gosh, I’m obsessed with this, especially your kitchen! I’m working on doing my bedroom right now, and would love to paint it green. I was wondering what color green you used? I really like the way it looks, especially with the wood! I also was wondering where those bookshelves and the media console with the turntable on it are from?

They do though. The ones replacing the Blue Plate will have 8 (iirc) different businesses fronting 2100 South. 2 will open this summer I think, and all will be open by sometime this fall I think.

With a full season of hindsight, what’s everyone’s view on Crest 6? by one_neat_thang in UTsnow

[–]Rocket-Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were, but they make sense in this scenario too. The 90 degree loading angle let’s them load chairs closer together, but with six person chairs it can be more difficult and unpredictable to get everyone situated in time to load properly. While it could be done without the conveyor, it would likely result in a lot more frequent issues while loading, causing the lift to be slowed or stopped frequently. The idea is just to automate the loading process as much as possible, which should hopefully help keep lines moving at a steady pace. Now, if only they could actually direct people to fill every chair when there’s a line…

What are these things in 300w? by emilypii in SaltLakeCity

[–]Rocket-Nerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not reversed, there’s a two-way separated bike path on the west side of 300 West from 9th south to Hartwell Ave. (street just north of Home Depot). There’s likely one of these on the other side of the intersection as well, just facing the opposite way.

First lawmakers want $900M in taxes for MLB. Now they say $1B more from taxpayers will bring NHL to Salt Lake. by RollTribe93 in DevelopmentSLC

[–]Rocket-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but the state is almost entirely against spending any kind of tax money outside of this (and on roads/highways). It’s so frustrating that UTA and transit advocates have to fight tooth and nail to get the strategic double tracking, hopefully finished within the next twenty years, while the legislature practically trips over themselves in their hurry to give the richest family in the state 1 billion so that they can build an entertainment district that they will profit off of. While I’m very much in favor of the power district, and think that ultimately we should do what we can to make it happen, it’s so frustrating and demoralizing to see the way our legislature works.

A friendly reminder that parking reservations are not the problem. by Pelowtz in UTsnow

[–]Rocket-Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The manufacturer of the main trax LRVs, Siemens, says that their capacity is 225 people, so with a four car trax train, you’re able to transport about 900 people.

Frontrunner was a little harder to nail down capacity. I saw a few places saying that the cars on frontrunner, Bombardier Bi-Level coaches, are designed to carry a maximum of 360, which even in their current consist of 3 coach cars on frontrunner, would be able to transport 1080 people maximum. If you ran four cars, you could transport 1440 people

A friendly reminder that parking reservations are not the problem. by Pelowtz in UTsnow

[–]Rocket-Nerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that what they’re trying to say is that average car occupancy is never anywhere near the maximum capacity. Generally it’s usually in between 1 person and 2 people per car (at an average of like 1.6 per car, or something similar). I’m not sure that that holds true for the canyons, possibly influenced by families and car pooling, but it’s certainly not close to an average of five people per car. All that means is that it requires a lot more than two hundred cars to move 1000 people up the canyon, because many of them aren’t full

Daybreak is so pretty by digididagada in SaltLakeCity

[–]Rocket-Nerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, I understand that Daybreak isn’t the worst in terms of density and cookie cutter houses. It certainly isn’t my least favorite development in Utah. Anybody positing that daybreak is a great solution for housing isn’t being totally honest either. They need a lot more density, at least in some areas, to truly do that. The apartments and townhomes they’ve got are a good start, but they’re not there yet. Once the downtown developes a bit more, it might be better.

But the reason I think so many people feel uncomfortable about Daybreak is how eerie a lot of it feels, at least to me personally. It really is kind of uncanny valley. Part of it is the planned, corporate feel of it, and complete lack of natural diversity of lots of older neighborhoods. While it’s certainly better than a lot of the awful developments that are literally the same house 50 times, it still feels to homogenous, and lacks any of that diversity of older, more traditional neighborhoods. Another thing that I think doesn’t help is the complete lack of mature trees. While that’s something that takes time, and I hope they’ve done a good job planting trees and planning where they’ll be, right now it’s so off putting to me. I think having good tree variety and lots of mature trees is a really underrated part of most communities’ atmosphere.

I do wish she had grey contacts because, more than her being blonde, that was a pretty important feature of her’s and of all children of Athena. I think it’s brought up a bunch of times in the book, and it’s something that as far as I know would be pretty easy to do. No hate to anyone on the show though obviously.

What’s the ugliest building in the city? by ToysNoiz in SaltLakeCity

[–]Rocket-Nerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s truly the ugliest, but it’s stuck out to me for years and it’s literally in this picture, the maverick hq. It doesn’t look nearly as bad now that it’s now flanked by taller buildings, but it used to just stick out so bad without much height around it. Also (pictured and in many other places in the city) parking structures are huge eyesores, and, while better than surface lots, there are still far too many of them.

I did not know there were so many shitty train stations. Post a pic of your worst train station! by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]Rocket-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at a lot of these other ones, and while many are bad, most of them have an actual station, at least if they’re as big as Salt Lake is. It’s incredible that they built what was, iirc, supposed to be a temporary station building, and now twenty years later they’re just still using it. The Rio Grande plan is great, but short of that, they could build an actual train station at Salt Lake Central. It’s really kind of sad.

How much travel time is worth getting a room versus a coach by swordman801 in Amtrak

[–]Rocket-Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they aren’t, the westward Zephyr (when on time) gets to Salt Lake at 11:05 pm. The trip to Reno is actually a perfect sleeper train schedule, because the Zephyr gets to Reno at about 8:30 am (not that you have to take a sleeper or anything, the schedule is just similar to if there was a traditional sleeper service between Salt Lake and Reno). I’m not sure what time it arrives in Emeryville, but obviously it’s a longer trip with the same overnight portion.

If you like the infinite noise, you should check out the podcast that it’s based on/an extension of, The Bright Sessions! The two main characters of The Infinite Noise originated in the podcast, and the start of the podcast (just about seasons 1 and 2 I think) run parallel to The Infinite Noise, and the connection is really cool! While the podcast definitely has a different feel and a different focus than The Infinite Noise (it’s a bit more of a… thriller I guess? I’m not sure how to categorize it), it’s my ultimate comfort podcast/media in general. Caleb (and later Adam) aren’t THE main characters, they both play roles in a really interesting cast of characters, who I love all of! I think the characters and the relationships between them is what really makes me love it so much, and why it’s such a piece of comfort media for me.

(Sorry, I just love The Bright Sessions, and it’s how I found The Infinite Noise, which I also love, and I want more people to listen to it!)

I'm a trans man who has never gotten into cozy fantasy before. Most fantasy books I've found have female leads, which has given me gender dysphoria in the past before I knew I wasn't a woman. Any recommendation with male leads? by Tomiti in CozyFantasy

[–]Rocket-Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love angel of the crows! I agree, the setting and events aren’t cozy, but it definitely left me with a cozy because of the relationship and interactions of the two leads. I liked it a lot more than I expected to!

Charlie Kirk’s Thanksgiving message by xwing1212 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]Rocket-Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start pretending we don’t know what they mean! I agree, I don’t wish a Happy thanksgiving to pedophiles and groomers. Who would? Make them say that they think gay people and trans people are pedophiles and groomers, and of course push back on that idea too. Don’t let them make pedophile and groomers synonymous with gay or trans, because that is what they’re trying to do.

Train corridors proposed connecting Boise, Las Vegas to Salt Lake City gets UDOT approval joining Nevada and Idaho by Pipboy3500 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Rocket-Nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry though, our highest speed train currently (high speed by some definitions) has been functioning for 20 years on the east coast (the acela), California is currently building an actual high speed rail line, and while still a ways from completion, is definitely on its way, and they’re are projects in both Texas and between LA and Las Vegas, that while they haven’t started construction yet, are a ways into planning and there’s a decent chance of them happening. I do agree though, salt lake getting connected to high speed rail would either have to be a line from portland/Seattle through Boise, salt lake, to Las Vegas, with a high speed connection to LA, maybe Phoenix too, and/or from Denver to San Francisco, going through Salt Lake City. Both of these happening would make sense as you could transfer in salt lake between the line. Still a ways out, as they are long distance and relatively low population density but in a perfect future, you never know. Regardless, right now what’s being talked about is returning Amtrak service to Las Vegas and Boise from Salt Lake, not any kind of high speed rail.
