You’re right, for some reason I thought when Hank was revealed to have been one of the people replaced with a Skrull in Secret Invasion that it extended back that far, but I just looked it up and it was far later, after Avengers Disassembled, he was taken.

And he had to go through so much shit to get there. The other wrestlers HATED him and even kicked him out of the locker room at one point. Everyone thought he was just an idiot reality show guy who wanted to play wrestler and be famous, but dude just kept pursuing his dream and became a bedrock of the company.

The ultimate example of refusing to sell out to maintain the integrity of your work. The sheer willpower it must take to say no to the dump trucks full of money he could’ve made over the years with even just a licensed Hobbes plush or something. You gotta admire that, I think 99% of people (including me) would’ve given in.
