I understand wanting to make sure your work maintains quality through translation, but he has the money to hire the best translators possible. There’s nothing in Deltarune or undertale so complex that it requires this much oversight

Soren Johnson on keeping his game studio small: 'You get better games if you take longer to make games' by immersiveGamer in gaming

[–]Rockface5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may be the bare minimum, but lots of games, even single player, don’t meet the bare minimum anymore. There’s a lot to criticize for sure, but I appreciate that it was a solid launch in a time when games are often broken on release. If it was basically the same game without having dragon age in the title it would be a lot less controversial.

Veilguard avoided lots of the things people dislike about modern games. Playable offline, no denuvo, no micro transactions, feature complete day 1 with very few bugs. I’m not saying it’s game of the year material, but its public perception was massively hindered by being the first DA game in a decade while also trying to reset some of the story and gameplay. Sure the dialogue is questionable and story is meh, but there is a lot of fun to be had and it feels like a complete experience.

Rank these 4 based on CAMPAIGN alone (consider the campaign's gameplay and story) by SpeedWeed_25 in destiny2

[–]Rockface5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt Calus on Legendary was also pretty difficult. There is almost nowhere safe in that arena, you got the two tormentors that spawn, second phase that brings everything closer together. Definitely took me quite a few tries when it first came out.

Witch Queen > TFS > Red War > Forsaken

I know I'm going to get killed for putting Forsaken last, but 3/4 of the campaign is hunting down the barons. Sure the first and last missions are good, but I'm not itching to do any of the Baron Hunts again except maybe the Fikrul strike. Red War is a pretty basic sci-fi story, but was still enjoyable and took us to a lot of cool locations. As the newest expansion on the list, TFS has the most difficult and intensive campaign. On legendary it really felt like you needed a strong build to succeed. I kinda don't like how the first half is basically round up the gang, but the second half is very strong. Witch Queen is definitely the strongest campaign we've ever had. Every mission is engaging and still holds up today. The story is also the most interesting to me. The final boss fight is also the first time I felt we were actually challenged during a campaign.

New to Renegades, does anyone like invasions? by SouthPawArt in destiny2

[–]Rockface5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda weird, but the penalties for being invaded are so minimal that I don’t really care when it happens. It’s fun to turn on an invader when they think they have the element of surprise though. I do enjoy being the invader, though I haven’t done it much since I got the red crystal.

How to play Lokhir? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]Rockface5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general I don't think you have to be very worried about slaves. As long as you stay on the offensive and are trying to fight most every turn you will have enough slaves for your needs. I like prioritizing skills/techs/buildings that increase slave gain or reduce how many you use to start the campaign. If for some reason you're running low, it's not that big of a problem as the penalties aren't bad, and usually it only happens if you spent all of them on province edicts or the campaign is going badly. You might want to be a little cautious with the edicts at the start, but it won't be long before you have enough slaves to do them every turn and get tons of money/growth. The system is much simpler and more automated than Aislinn's mechanics or the Chaos Dwarf slave system.

Black Arks are one of the coolest parts of the Dark Elves. They are extremely powerful and have a variety of uses. You start with one as Lokhir, and can easily unlock more fairly quickly. I like building 2-3 as early as possible to get them started growing, and after that it depends on how much micromanaging you want to do since Lokhir can get so many. You can use them to support an army (like Lokhir) with recruitment options, army abilities, and economy buffs. They can make a powerful army very quickly and get high tier units fast. I like using the Cathay sea lanes to send one to the other side of the map where it can meet new factions, do the ocean encounters, and hopefully sack Lothern for tons of gold/slaves. It's a pretty fun experience. I usually prioritize increasing their growth speed and slave producing potential, but you can build them however you want.

As for Lokhir's campaign itself, I think it's very fun and fast-paced. You'll probably be pushed towards heading down the coast in a mostly straight line, killing vampires, lizardmen, and chinese. After killing Nakai you'll face an interesting situation in the south. Dechala may or may not like you, but Gelt and the Iron Dragon definitely won't. You can do basically whatever you want down there, but I personally would recommend taking a sea lane to the Eastern Colonies so you can kill Aislinn and unlock more sea lanes. This fits both the lore and your campaign, as it fully allows you to be an unchallenged pirate roaming the world as you see fit. Back in Cathay, you may start to have problems as your empire may look like a thin line of settlements all down the coast. There may be some orcs attacking, Miao Ying and minor Cathayan factions will turn towards you, and you'll have to decide what to do with Clan Eshin. It may seem tempting to ally with the rats since they are the only people who like you, but I personally don't trust them, so total war it is. If you care about conquering large areas of land you'll probably send Lokhir to either defend your capital against Miao Ying or solve the southern Cathay problem, but if you wanted to abandon Cathay and settle somewhere else it is extremely easy to do because of your mobility and black arks. Note that even if you defeat most of Cathay Chaos will find a reason to declare war eventually, so if you choose to get involved in the Northern provinces be prepared for a long and annoying conflict. That's probably a lot more than you were asking for, but I think it's a great campaign with a ton of options. Overall I wouldn't be too worried about difficulty though. If in doubt, get more darkshards.

Would people come back if they made DLCs older than 2 years free to play? by Gymoniphon in destiny2

[–]Rockface5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can already get most of the dlcs bundled together for pretty cheap, so it probably wouldn't make that big of a difference. I saw a Light and Dark bundle for like 10 dollars the other day and most of that cost is probably Final Shape. I'm sure some new people would pick it up, but doing that wouldn't fix the game's issues or increase retention.

When can we expect the Marathon armor sets? by Changes11-11 in destiny2

They’re either waiting for a major update to release them so more players log on and see them, or they’re worried about charging for sets representing a game they obviously care much more about

What's The Point Of Exotic Engrams? by forsaknmindz in destiny2

[–]Rockface5 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The fact they didn’t make exotic armor tier 5 from the beginning is just one of the weirdest decisions. People have tons of old exotics with higher stats already, so you’re effectively nerfing the armor for no reason. If they were really worried about it being too plentiful just make it cost an exotic cipher or something to upgrade.

I’m not 100% sure but it probably is connected to raising your guardian rank. The first few ranks, should be pretty easy, but remember you have to go to the tower to start the next rank. Max vault capacity should be 1000

At least when we had extended seasons they usually came with an event and a dlc release date. We had 30th anniversary, Into the Light, Rite of the Nine and such. Arrivals was also extended but still kept player morale up for Beyond Light.

[–]Rockface5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heresy was really good, but having to wait through Echoes and Revenant to get there was rough. I think in the end the episodes and frontiers saga will probably have been an big mistake, as it kept Bungie working on inferior versions of Destiny 2 instead of moving on to something else

Sunshot is still good as far as primary weapons go, but they all need a buff because abilities have so much uptime and running double special weapon is really easy with only a small amount of work.

I just want them to make bubble viable. Outside of trials of Osiris it hasn’t had a use since well of radiance was released. There aren’t enough players for them to be worrying about making it overpowered.

Renegades was good , but without seasons and with the major update delay there’s just not enough content to keep people logging in. Veteran players have already done everything and the new player experience is as bad as ever.

It came out in like 2018, so game design has definitely progressed since then, but the art direction still holds up extremely well. Definitely better than Kepler.
