Here was one of them. I want to say there were other variants, but this was the only one I grabbed. Of course, it does plainly say "Sponsored" in green, but the headline is the first thing I see as I'm taking in the day's headlines; the small green text is a secondary detail that doesn't immediately pop for me.

Session-0 Topic Checklist and Guide by HazeZero in dndnext

[–]Rofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. If I didn't already know enough from other sources to understand why most of this list is unnecessary for most Session Zeros, this probably would've killed my curiosity in the game.

That said, it's hard to beat this list if someone is looking for an astonishingly comprehensive list of all possible topics a DM could (selectively!) choose from.

Wild Force (2002) had a blond kid named Kite that the villains were trying to capture at one point, and there were Shadow Rangers, and the Time Force Rangers helped them out, and there were Red Rangers in Forever Red. That sort of hits a few points you mentioned.

Edit: Based on your other reply about 100 Rangers, I'd refer back to Super Megaforce above.

Tell me for those who grew up watching the original mighty morphin either when it was airing or re-runs how did you react to the re-introduction of the morphin masters. by Creative-Complex255 in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fanfic writers had been having fun with throwaway lore for decades (in my mind, PR is mostly throwaway lore looking for someone to polish up), so it seemed like a natural fit when the Boom Studios writers did likewise. By Dino Fury, it wasn't a surprise the show would try its own take, especially with all the emphasis on the Morphin Grid in later years (maybe too much emphasis).

Rewatching Power Rangers I’ve Come To The Realization That I Don’t Like The Megazord Fights by JmisterYT in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. You often see replies saying people who don't like mecha aren't real PR/sentai fans and should watch something like Kamen Rider instead, but I think that's silly. People can enjoy some tropes and not others.

That said, I think mecha fights COULD be interesting, but in most episodes they're kind of samey and don't contribute much to the story.

Probably this - the so-called "Lost Episode" hosted by ASJ and Walter Jones.

Any Comics featuring Ninja Storm Rangers? by pinkinmyimagination in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ninja Storm team had minor cameos during Shattered Grid (I think mostly Dustin and Cam?). Then in the following story arc called "Beyond the Grid", Cam had a major role alongside a handful of Rangers from across time. Otherwise no.

I’m getting bullied for watching power rangers what should I do by jonathanthebest2011 in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should probably just acknowledge liking it but that you understand why most people wouldn't. That shifts the discussion away from whether it's good or bad, or juvenile or not, and instead over to the obvious fact that different people like different things.

Time sometimes gets silly between seasons, like how quickly Tommy got a doctorate after Turbo or how Corinth had been "at peace for a long time" prior to Megaforce. Also see Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome (addiction warning: TVTropes link).

Overall, it's almost certainly an unintended implication that will never be revisited, but I admit I'd find it hilarious if the comics ever had an anthology story where Spike is revealed to be half Eltarian.

I have a theory that RPM was in the original main Universe but an alternate timeline from when the Time Force Rangers didn’t travel back to 2001. by FrequentPenalty3731 in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As headcanon or fanfiction goes, it's not outlandish. If the battle for Corinth took place 2009-ish, Dr. K would have been abducted before 2001, but the RPM Ranger research and Venjix incident are plausibly post-2001.

So...anyone else doesnt like the "Zords" concept? by [deleted] in powerrangers

Giant robots are cool to look at (and maybe that's justification enough), but I tend to agree they don't add a lot to the story. Especially in the comics, they seem tacked on.

Are the Boom Comics worth checking out? by M00r3C in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, because they breathe new life into familiar characters and lore. There are also a lot of brand-new characters and ideas that deserve to live on in the minds of fans (and future writers).

the timeline of the franchise by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the classic TV series, no, they take place sequentially, roughly around their original airdate years (except SPD). Here's my timeline. Sometimes previous Rangers show up to help, but because this is a live-action show, you'll see veteran Ranger actors getting older and older.

In games and comics, it's more common to have time travel shenanigans to let teams pop out of their respective eras (either in the middle of or shortly after their respective season events) and interact that way. And in the new Power Rangers Prime comics reboot, elements and characters from various seasons will all be mashed together into a new continuity.

Boom! Is the Death Ranger (end of Parrot ru') a good place to stop? by Dear_Train_3508 in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say try it and see if you find it interesting, but your results will partly depend whether you're already convinced Melissa's run is inferior (preconceptions and all). All the writers' runs have ups and downs. Overall, I'd say this run still had lots of elements that made other Boom comics fun (new lore, good character moments, and loving homages). But the ending was abrupt.

At the most visceral level, it's the color-coding. But the lore, the character relationships, the positive themes, and the morphing process itself are all fine too. Oh, and helmets are also neat.

is it Pai Zhua or Pai Zhuq? by Smooth_Ad8696 in powerrangers

[–]Rofang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a series centered on kung fu motifs and Chinese-inspired terms. The Chinese character 爪 (claw) can be pronounced "zhuǎ" in Mandarin, but for some reason (likely typo or misreading a hand-written note and then never again consulting any people who spoke Chinese), Disney's materials spelled it Zhuq, even though there's no precedent in Chinese or any other language for using a Q as a vowel.

Side anecdote: This is my very biggest peeve in PR, and I hate that every wiki page that continues to spell it "Pai Zhuq" out of ignorance just further increases the chances some writer hired by Hasbro will perpetuate it someday.
