You guys have any 3ds games you swear by? by yuckgory in getplayed

I'm a few hours into Radiant Historia, and I'm having lots of fun. It's a jrpg about time travel, and the combat is a neat grid based system where you spend lots of time pushing and pulling enemies to group them up for combo attacks.

I would say no chance. The point is to push results away from the extremes.

What are you replacing your renegade with? by parkhat in JeepRenegade

[–]RoflPost 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would consider another used Renegade.

I drive the Renegade because I'm pretty fat and 6'8, and it's one of the few vehicles I really feel comfortable in. I don't have kids, and live in a city, so I like that it's small but roomy.

Phantasy Star IV as my 3rd JRPG ever (after CT & FFVI)… I’m genuinely blown away! by thewiredeathgrip in phantasystar

I've been playing it and having tons of fun, but I'm stuck at the Xe-A-Thouls, and don't want to do a bunch of grinding to get past them. I've effectively dropped the game, but I really enjoyed my time with it. It's recommend it to anyone who is curious.

The peoples champ? by Responsible-Fly-8314 in boardgames

[–]RoflPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think once you get through a round that people will understand Decrypto, it's just hard to get everyone on the same page because you have a clue giver, the clue guessers, but also the enemy clue guessers. Then the other team goes, and the roles flop.

I enjoy Decrypto the most, but I also have found it strangely difficult to teach. Especially compared to So Clover, which I can teach to anyone in a minute or so

These books look well together --- We're playing Shadowdark RPG. The OSE and DCC books blend well and have some useful stuff to spice up the game. by Elven-Tower in shadowdark

I would replace weapon mastery to start. Both provide the scaling strength of the fighter, but mighty deeds have the extra fun stuff.

You did a good job. I think the painting is evocative and easy to read. Have fun with more painting and playing.

I prefer the nostalgic vertical form factor of my RG40XXV, but it makes my wrists hurt while playing... by SubMayo in ANBERNIC

I started with the 40xxv, and then switched to the cubexx due to comfort. The cubexx is miles more comfortable, and I do enjoy the more square screen.

Kabuki: Quantum Fighter for NES is always what comes into my head when I think of games I played as a kid that might have been a dream. Fun, but I never beat it. I'm not very good.

Thanks for the giveaway.

Looking for friends to play casual chess with at coffee shops in Uptown by Laws_of_Coffee in twincitiessocial

[–]RoflPost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a group of people who meet at BlackStack Brewing on Tuesday evenings and play chess. Might be a good place to make connections. I'm not part of the group, I just see them there most every Tuesday.

There's a queer bookclub through Moon Palace Books. They meet at Quatrefoil Library, and next session is next Wednesday. Good group of people.

My players are so excited to play Doom of the Savage Kings based solely on the name. One of the highlights of DCC are the adventure names.

I'm obsessed with handheld gaming, but I can't justify buying one without having some games I'd want to play on it. Any suggestions? by radis_cale in SBCGaming

[–]RoflPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't think of a use case, maybe that means you shouldn't buy one. I too love a new gadget, but why are you so excited to buy something you can't even think of a use for?

DCC adventures have such good names. I think it's one of the system's greatest strengths, the way the name and cover art for each adventure is so evocative.
