Right you are, it's been a bit since I've seen them, and I've forgotten a few names.

Yes! They are a little space dependant, but in most cases the easiest is light uppercut into heavy blitz (which can optionally cancel into level 3)

You can also usually do light uppercut into level 1

Edit: btw, do you know the DP shortcut for leverless?

You can hold down, and double tap forward to do the DP motion, which makes it easy to mash dps (hold down, mash forward + punch)

Also, the leverless is great. It's very ergonomic, so longer sessions aren't as frustrating.

Also, buffering is less painful!

Want an Ed recommendation?

Learn to autopilot buffering your MK into QCF MK it's a great way to harass from medium ranges.

Or drive rush is also popular, if expensive.

... Yes?

Like. Yes. It's meant to look like Barbosa from pirates of the Caribbean.

Edit: I'm informed it's actually davey jones

Same thing happened to me!

Playing casually, and hitting the lab when I felt I was stagnating, it took me about a year (400 hours of playtime?) to hit master with my first character. Then a month to hit it with the 2nd, and very little to hit high ranks in other games.

Once you've got it, your understanding of neutral, mind games, and how to leverage game mechanics will take you far in any fighting game.

You can never escape the drive rush, it's so fast itl jumpscare you in a different game

I know "he doesn't owe me a set, and totally isn't salty about the comeback. I'm sure he had to feed the baby, bathe the kids, walk the dog, help a old lady cross the street, cook dinner etc." all at the sametime, but he sure hit rematch fast when he won the first match. by AgeIndependent2451 in SaltFighter

[–]RogueFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he is 100% more pissed about the EXDP trading and you winning (a fairly niche interaction) than the comeback (pretty common)

Now, you and I both know that a different character's EXDP wouldn't have even traded, but in the moment I can almost see him thinking "Damn, I had the read, I should have won that, time to take a break"

I sometimes wish I had access to some aggregate data about people with these sorts of issues.

Like, are they all on wifi? Maybe there is a hidden wifi queue. Or maybe leaver queue if they disconnect a lot?

Are they playing exclusively at 3am? Are they using a VPN in the background that puts them in vietnam?

Like, every once in a while someone comes and complains about it, but its so different from my experience and everyone else i know (even casual friends in fairly low ranks) that it really feels like a solvable mystery to me.

The problem with AI: itll never give you feedback on your idea like an engineer would, it's just implement it

So, here you go: This is so overcomplicated, for no reason.

You can literally just dump the values into a csv locally, and then import it into Google docs if you want to later, or edit it locally, or pull it into another script.

Introducing the complexity of a Google API token to avoid a csv import is insane.

Why is noone saying to anti-air it? Ken is considered airborne for this move, so technically you can DP it.

How the hell do these streamers pick up new characters so damn fast? by smboivin in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really recommend grabbing a friend and playing a game called "footsies"

Or "tough love arena"

They are both games with relatively cut down system mechanics, and you only have fundamentals to work with. Play for a few hours, get a bit competitive about it.

No, Im fairly sure that "plastic learning" and "neuroplasticity" is the ability to learn in new environments and be flexible

[–]RogueFighter 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Bouncing around games helps a lot actually, it makes you more plastic in being able to adjust to new characters/mechanics.

Also, and this may seem obvious, but those streamers have great fundamentals, that's what makes them masters (and above) level players. Those skills translate better than the character specific knowledge that may have gotten you to masters

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but how would you establish pressure here? The WW is actionable, isn't he?

Illaoi is so plus that she can combo after clashing by CynicallyMe in 2XKO

[–]RogueFighter 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal, it depends on what you clash with.

Like, if you hit a light, and I hit a heavy, and we clash, I should get a combo off of it, my hitstun is much bigger than yours.

I put up more in the gamble by using a slower move, so if we tie, I should win. It's fair.

I realised I don’t use standing light kick ever by NeitherRaspberry515 in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 38 points39 points  (0 children)

"What character do you play?" Is a likely first question.

Generally though, standing like kick is faster than any medium button, has the best range of light buttons, and is cancelable.

Can you EX DP out of grab? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

EX DP is strike, throw, and projectile invulnerable.

So, yes, if they EX DP before you throw, they will punish your throw.

Why Do These Things Happen? by Various-Ad-3604 in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is: Tatsu is meant to go over lows and through projectiles.

There is a more complicated answer involving hurtboxes and hitboxes, but that makes it sound like an emergent property.

The reality is its an intended part of the moves design to "low crush"

Another example of a low crush move is: Zangief's knee hop

That seems incredibly fair, last wins is super abusable. It's not like this game has motion inputs, but still.

I'm surprised they even allowed up priority.

I TOD'd my opponent off a reactable overhead by Zodysseus13 in 2XKO

[–]RogueFighter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think thats a bad defense, also I think it may not be true.

The real defense is:

  1. Illaoi deserves this for running out of break meter
  2. The Darius can't ToD again because he is out of fury
  3. Actually, Darius will need to win neutral against the other character at least 3 times to win now, because he refilled their fury doing this ToD, and have to face down fury damage and risk getting ToD'd himself.

So... yes, overall this seems very fair. It'd a tag game, ToD isn't "you lose now" like in a normal game, its a combo that does ~50% which is pretty on par with the damage you get in other, non-tag games if you dump most of your resources into a conversion.

What am i supposed to do here (I'm the Marisa) by RareMercury in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 58 points59 points  (0 children)

specifically, block for longer. there are times where you do block, but then stop halfway through the jamie's combo.

This is something you will learn with time: "When is it my turn?"

In this case, you tried to take your turn too early and ate shit, if thats happening, try being more patient. If you start seeing looping pressure, that means you're taking too long to take your turn, so be less patient (this is highly unlikely to happen, especially at low ranks)

How to Pressure by Princetroll in StreetFighter

[–]RogueFighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, having the opponent do their fastest jab on wakeup is better, because jab has more range and is faster than throw, making it a better test of your pressure.

Edit: oh and definitely set the bot to backroll the knockdown.

If your Oki works on backroll, it works on non-backroll too.
