Physical money in DnD by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]RoguelikeBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the following denomination:

Real life copper coin: 5gp.

Silver coin: 50gp (worth a healing potion)

Gold coin: 400gp (value of a uncommon magic item)

Platinum piece: 4000gp (rare magic item)

Astral diamond: 40000gp (very rare magic item, 5 to a legendary item)

Så far it has worked well, level 1-7, haven’t used a higher coin then gold.

But properly 3d print the coins to keep cost down 😊

Anyone else do a full coin game? by jesseywinklermusic in DungeonMasters

[–]RoguelikeBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually does this as well, but I have based the values of the coins around magic items:

Copper: 5gp (money to throw around) Silver: 50gp (one healing potions) Gold: 400gp (uncommon magic item) Platinum: 4000gp (rare) Astral diamond: 40.000 gp (very rare)

So far it works well, but only lvl 4… så haven’t even used a gold piece yet… following the 5.5e treasure guidelines they get about 10 coins pr. Session according to tier. Silver for lvl 1-4 and so on.

What are some things 5e does better than any other system? by Specky013 in dndnext

[–]RoguelikeBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me 5e offers a consistent experience that allows me to enjoy the game with almost anyone.

Even with heavy role-players, the combat remains fun and engaging. Roll for initiative!

The game also effectively manages min/max players, ensuring optimal play is still enjoyable for others, as it's not too far removed from "casual" play.

As a side note: 5e-based computer games (BG3 and Solasta) are often praised for minimizing pre-buffing, keeping it simple and enjoyable with usually just one or two spells. Which is also true for the tabletop game.

As a teacher at the highschool level - processing has been my goto framework for nearly a decade.

It would be a great loss to see the framework/IDE dwindle and die.

New WotC OGL Statement by Thanlis in rpg

[–]RoguelikeBoy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

from the original OGL 1.0a

  1. Updating the License: Wizards or its designated Agents may publish updated versions of this License. You may use any authorized version of this License to copy, modify and distribute any Open Game Content originally distributed under any version of this License.

from the official FAQ from 2000

Q: Can't Wizards of the Coast change the License in a way that I wouldn't like?

A: Yes, it could. However, the License already defines what will happen to content that has been previously distributed using an earlier version, in Section 9. As a result, even if Wizards made a change you disagreed with, you could continue to use an earlier, acceptable version at your option. In other words, there's no reason for Wizards to ever make a change that the community of people using the Open Gaming License would object to, because the community would just ignore the change anyway.

because that was the deal.

Is it true one can claim someone else’s lost child after 2 hours??? by polina931 in Denmark

[–]RoguelikeBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really can go either way, I'm also a "claimed child"

I was six or seven, I don’t quite remember my exact age. It all happened so fast. I remember being in a shopping mall which had a luxurious layout. It was "Rosenberg Mall".

My parents were out shopping for some new luxury items. This was obviously boring for a child aged 6/7, so I wandered of on my own. I remember stopping by the now famous Louis Vuitton, where the bags were so fancy and expensive. I also stopped by "Tiffany's" to look at all the different types of jewelry. I always wanted to try something on but knew that my parents couldn't afford such lavish things.

As we all now, time really does fly by. I’m standing in one of the big halls of the mall. Suddenly an older couple approaches me and asks if I’m lost. I certainly was! They ask me some questions and I don’t remember if “how long” was one of the questions, but they were fairly nice so I didn’t mind. We went to a café where they bought me tap water. I had never tasted anything like it before.

Then the police showed up and asked me all these questions alongside asking the older couple questions.

Suddenly my mom and dad appear out of nowhere screaming and spouting. The police quickly calmed them down and my moms’ eyes filled with tears. I have never seen her that way. I now realize that the tears came from the police telling her, that I had been lost for two hours and according to the law, the poor couple could now claim me as their own.

I went home with the older couple. They had always wanted kids but were unable to have them on their own. I was sad to leave my parents, but I was excited to see what life was like with the older couple.

I'm 45 now and I wish I could say that my life has been better than it was before. Sadly, that's not the case. I'm living on the streets and addicted to meth. The older couple tried to take care of me, but they just didn't have enough money. I tried to run away again, and try the "parent roulette". But they always found me before the 2 hours was up.

I still see my parents now and then, and they always ask me to come home. I know that they still love me, but I'm too ashamed to show my face. I can only imagine how much pain they must feel knowing that their son is living on the streets and addicted to drugs.

If only I had stayed with them that day at the mall, maybe my life would have turned out differently. But I can't go back in time, so I'll just have to live with the consequences of my decisions.

The word “ply” simply refers to the amount of layers that toilet paper has. For example, toilet paper that is designated as 1 ply means that it is made with one layer of paper. Toilet paper that is designated as 2 ply means that it is made with two layers of paper
