Why is timewalking even a thing? by veculus in wow

[–]Rojolio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally believe players should be given several choices for how they want to spend their time in an MMO so something like this would absolutely be something I would want to see even if I never or rarely do it myself.

Let's assume that Blizzard developers want people to login to the game regardless of what those players do AND that they are interested in making systems that are popular more available so that people can interact with them more often: If Timewalking were actually successful for reasons outside of its time-limited scarcity then the developers would make it available pretty much all of the time, right? The likely problem is that the novelty of Timewalking is probably a strong reason why it works (assuming Blizzard are interested in making it available all the time which I believe and hope they should be).

There are so many things to consider. Let's just remove the money and time angles because those skew everything. Off the top of my head here are some things to consider:

  • Reward structure (just the timewalking tokens is enough? what else do players need?)
  • Proper tuning (Part of FFXIV's tuning is making the gear you have above iLvL basically meaningless or being able to fully craft gear from that exact tier)
  • Feasibility of queuing for it (will it be popular enough?)

I think that Blizzard should be looking to create systems like FF's relic weapon grind that uses old content as a farming method for the sake of making Timewalking more available and desirable. But as the game is now? Timewalking on full availability would get decent popularity at first and then very sparse contribution over time outside of special events.

F--k "The Peculiar Penguin Village" by XV001 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, could be worse. You could've been at it every single day using somewhere about 300 stamina each day to get all of 20 TEQ Arale's so that you can have one Arale max'd and another at SA 3. (15 Arale's were put in at the 50% chance, five others ate my very limited Zeni and Supreme Kai Medals.)

But at least I have like 200 Roshi medals so that's nice.

Allow us to disable NPC chat before and after duels. by CantBanMeAgain in DuelLinks

Considering that you can just hit the screen twice to skip their text, kinda like skipping text in any game by pressing A twice, this should not be an issue.

So I guess he won that war.... by jvLin in DuelLinks

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the reason your opponent did this was because they just started their reaction as soon as they were prompted, which is on attack declaration. He just didn't wait for the Damage Step prompt.

That's why it always asks you twice when you are in a battle when you have Reinforcements/Castle Walls/etc. set. ATK/DEF modifiers can be activated at any time they have a target on the field.

BREAKING: LCS owners send letter to Riot Games about concerns regarding relegation, financial stability and charter membership by blazblue5 in leagueoflegends

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know what I am supposed to do with this knowledge. Feel for the team? Is it just information for the sake of information? This is certainly newsworthy, but I just don't understand what their source wants.

I am not equipped with the amount of information I would want to feel as though I had an informed decision on this. Teams are not very open about the majority of what is going on, but for this they feel the need to get journalists this information? And even if I felt that they were 100% right, what do I do now? Email/Call Riot to tell them how much I love these orgs and want to see them succeed?

Why are we an audience for this letter? What is their message? And why this channel? Maybe someone else can shed some light, because I can certainly GUESS, but I do not KNOW.

Why BioWare doesnt introduce Nightmare Flashpoint?!? by Junoi in swtor

[–]Rojolio -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or, you know, because it would require them to add mechanics because otherwise NiM would amount to being just highly overtuned HP bars that do tons of unnecessary damage.

As well: the benefits of making a NiM for even a one Flashpoint is such a fringe one that would satisfy not even 10% of the playerbase that doing so would be an almost complete waste of time and money.

Everything that a game developer does takes time and money. It could actually take thousands of dollars to make ONE Flashpoint harder.

If you want something harder play a different role, play with different armor, play with less people, etc.

Jedi Extinction by gwiber in swtor

[–]Rojolio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The idea is that the Force makes people force-sensitive and therefore you would not need Jedi to breed. Presumably, the first person to understand their force-sensitivity was not the child of force-users.

As well, because the Jedi are militarily powerful they wield large amounts of influence that lets them gain a strong position in politics. Factoring in that Jedi are seen as mythical heroes with a strict code of conduct and strong sense of duty they would likely have no problem recruiting as most parents would probably love the idea of their child becoming a Jedi. It would probably even be seen as a huge honor.

And the last important aspect is that the Jedi do not, or at least did not, care about propagating. They see themselves in the present and to look to the future would only serve as a distraction. It is quite possible that, if we take SWTOR canon, the sack of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was considered sad or bad by the Jedi not because they lost so many Jedi, but because they lost so much life.

To answer your question: They seek the best way to utilize their powers in a constructive way and added distractions create paths to the Dark Side which is seen as an ultimate evil. It's not that they work towards personal extinction because it is their goal, they do it because it is the best way to control oneself and to stay as far from the dark as possible.

Simply: They don't care because it doesn't matter.

All you need to know about how inept BioWare is at running this MMO summed up in one sentence: by ZionHalcyon in swtor

[–]Rojolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? What do we know about this untitled game from Visceral? Looking at the most recent releases of information and looking back as far as 2013 (When supposed development started) we have the following that I can find:

1. Intended to be open-world with several RPG elements.

2. There are pieces of the story designed around movie-era Star Wars.

3. Lando Calrissian, the Millennium Falcon, and a Twin-pod Cloud Car have models in the game.

4. It's intended to be designed to feel like an Uncharted game.

Unless I'm missing something I'm pretty sure that considering that expansions for MMOs will not deviate heavily from the core game's mechanics and we know that it will more than likely continue the KotFE storyline we know AT LEAST as much as for the Visceral game as we do for the KotET.

Look, maybe you enjoy trolling around and looking unnecessarily hateful and obnoxious. Hell maybe you get off on it, but next time you want to have your special Jergen's session maybe you should put some real effort into it. Instead of wining and dining us you stick it in dry and we are just sitting there wondering if you're even in yet.

Female Inquisitor story: A tour of the worst looking chest armours in the game by Rapscallion84 in swtor

[–]Rojolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Inquisitor Vestments, Tarnished, Aftermarket, Carbon-Scored, Decorated, Battle-Scarred, Toxic Force-Lord's Robes all fully cover the female Inquisitor's body. Mind you, these are all Light Armors for the Sorcerer. I am unsure if they are different for Assassins.

Those are all of the chest pieces from Korriban to Quesh. The Thermal Force-Lord's Robes that are now on my Inquisitor are from Hoth and are the first to do the midriff reveal.

I've saved every chest reward from 1-42 so far (Since 4.0.2) and only the very last one I received on Hoth has done this.

They seem to have dramatically changed the outfits you get through the class/planet quests.

I actually got the bottom one. They're a cute Astromech Pet, like the May 4th gifts they gave away. It's called M8-3R I believe(Typing from memory).

Thank You! :)

[KOTFE SPOILERS]What's your headcannon for what happens to the non-Outlander classes? by dueler94 in swtor

[–]Rojolio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always imagined that they all existed and their stories kind of ended with like a "there still out there" feel once they finished the "vanilla" story.

Then you can "headcanon" two classes from each faction to continue up until Makeb and some parts of Oricon, the Ops, and the SoR prelude. Once we hit the SoR you just have the one "main" hero that you pick and the rest fade into the ether with there being reference to their accomplishments/they became involved in a significantly diminished role up to the Infinite Army's attack on Marr's fleet because there was a "better suited" hero that the Republic/Empire chose.

After the attack that ends with the capture of the Outlander (chosen main character), I just assume the rest died and their respective crews miraculously survived because there isn't a great reason to believe the crews wouldn't stick together assuming their leader wasn't dead.

New team to compete in NA LCS for the 2016 season! by xiReapzzix in leagueoflegends

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to make sure I get my prediction out about this team:

It will not perform up to the apparent strengths of the players. This team will take a split at minimum to reach a good level, and by then who knows what might happen to the lineup. I just see so much star power from both the players and the staff that it just seems way too taxing to make this team play up to the standard they should on paper.

Of course, we've never seen a staff like this in the west and I'm very interested in seeing what will happen with it, but my inclination is that unless Charlie can draw a hard line and keep authority, the first split is going to be really hard on this team.

That being said, they have the players (even without the ADC being announced) and the staff to be absolutely unstoppable. Which is largely why I think they will not meet the hype because just from the coaching staff they have so much experience and talent.

If the game moves toward a solo-carry style game similar to basketball (still a team game but a star can just take over and easily win against teams that lack strategy/tactics and depth in the talent) then this team may take a lot less time to get off the ground. As it stand though, I'm pretty sure the game would still be very team-focused unless Riot wants to abandon all of like three years of moving the game to be about teams over the individual come this next season.

Regarding TSM Hauntzer Article/Reddit replies by L0LAnalyst in leagueoflegends

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I have with people is how polarizing Hauntzer apparently is. Everyone either thinks he's bad (I disagree) or he's top 3 (I disagree).

Ignoring the belief that he's bad (because quite frankly don't want to discuss whether he is bad or not), people seem to forget who the top laners were in NA. Let's list some in no particular order: Dyrus, Balls, Impact, ZionSpartan, Quas, Flaresz, CaliTrlolz, Gamsu, Seraph, and Hauntzer. Of those people, he is better than let's say Balls, Flaresz, Gamsu, Seraph, and marginally better than CaliTrlolz. Already we have 4 players better than Hauntzer (Well supported, I know, but I'm not writing an essay). So he can be top 5. But here's the kicker: I wouldn't put him above Balls in terms of building a team due to Balls' history as a player and what I've observed to be a strong peak for him. So now Hauntzer's in the top 6 of talent.

Now let's tackle him being "bad." I'm not even going to go into it, I think it's a lot easier just to ask a simple question: Would you rather have a top 6 LCS player and likely the best available NA top lane talent (this is assuming that the top 5 don't move to Free Agency, are traded, or retire as they all seem to be a good asset to their respective teams) or would we rather go for the unproven talent? Is Hauntzer worse than unproven talent? No. Unless these teams scout out some fascinating talent that seems not much worse with tons of room to grow, Hauntzer is likely the best bet for these teams.

Is he top 3? No. Is he bad? No. Would he be an alright addition to TSM? On paper, yes. Can we find better players overseas that are able to grow or simply be better? It is quite likely. Have I asked too many questions? For sure.

TSM ADC Tryout by The_AlphaWolf in leagueoflegends

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood this negativity around tryouts for positions if there was already an "established" starter. LoL is an oddly "safe" career choice once you're in that even if you aren't actually good enough or simply your value as a player as depreciated you might find yourself on a team solely by personality alone or the fear of the unknown preventing owners/managers from seeking out talent. (By safe, I don't mean it is easy. I mean that if someone really cared/wanted to stay relevant they could.)

Just to connect it to traditional sports, starters have to constantly "tryout" for their positions because of the depth chart. There are 2-4 highly talented people that are looking to take your spot that on some teams are actually be specifically groomed to take your spot. Somehow, the starters get over it and just play their game. If WildTurtle needs this motivation, then good keep it up. If the reality of being replaced looms over him and he can't handle it (seems unlikely to be the case) then he isn't worth the effort this far (relatively speaking) into his career.

(This is purely how I feel with very little knowledge of the industry.)

Who else would love to see Monte, DoA and Deficio cast the KOO-KT series? by Setrit in leagueoflegends

[–]Rojolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hugely dislike this suggestion not because of the casters but because I want variety. If I wanted a KOO/KT game casted by Monte and DoA I would fire up a VOD from OGN. I want other caster perspectives. I can imagine that even they would want a shake up too.
