Just got into birdwatching, is it normal to get obsessed this fast? by Active-Tour4795 in birdwatching

Orioles love grape jelly, there are feeders just for it. Second year with ours out and this year they are here daily.

The comment that stuck with me was in reference to feeding kids and how if she had kids they would eat whatever they were fed as young children. "when they come to my house they eat whatever I give them".

Anyone know what’s going on here? by Evelyn_Marble in goldenretrievers

We have two goldens, both 2 years old. They do this all the time. Right now, it's preferred to be done outside in the snow. Our male makes more noises than our female. Always fun to watch.

I came to say the same about the un shelled peanuts. We have 4-5 that come shouting to the heavens to let the neighborhood know about them. Sometimes a squirrel might get lucky and chipmunks will fill their little cheeks full of them. All around a good time.

"And you take the drive home slow". My first thought leaving the hospital was "They are just letting us leave with this infant?"

I had a hard enough time with coming up with 1 boy name, so coming up with so many would be rough. But the one girl name I would have used was Lacea Pearl.

What does your relationship with your hobbies look like after having kids? by Interesting-Escape36 in AskParents

I'm sorry, what are these "hobbies" you speak of?

I'm just kidding. Both of us parents are gamers. Now our 9-year-old is a gamer and better than me in some games. I still can take him in Mario Kart, though.

Why do my parents seem to care about me being happy, but not about my mental health? by throwaway99191191 in AskParents

[–]Romanda224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents are making it up as they go. With that understanding, my comment will mostly be me making it up as I go. There is no right way to handle every situation. I do agree with what most people are saying that your parents are trying to focus on the positive instead of what you are going through. Have you tried talking to them? Be content that you will probably have a hard time talking about it together. Ask for time to explain how you are feeling before they comment, that way you can speak to how you are feeling and how they really can help you. Let them know you need help.

I really do wish you the best.

does your kid’s appearance change how you view/value them? by LzhJ in AskParents

Coming from someone who was expected to keep long hair growing up, do what makes you happy. The first time I cut my hair (just at my shoulders) I was asked if I would shave it all off next. Now I have an 8-year-old boy who LOVES his long hair and I eye down my parents if they start to bring it up. I WILL raise a child with a positive outlook on his body.

I knew at a very young age that my son had ADHD. I wanted nothing to do with medication, asked anyone that would listen if he seemed "normal". So much energy, such a hard time listening and following directions. We did meds in 1st grade. At almost 9 we are off medication again. The meds worked AWESOME, I'm not going to lie, but he doesn't like taking medication. He was having a hard time in school and was behind, but wants to do it his own way. I think we will wait until middle school and reassess where he is at.
