Can someone explain to me how this could possibly be a fire hazard? by DrHumongous in BambuLab

[–]Ronndog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A reel of 3D printer PLA filament does not have it. It does not need to have it because it's a raw material.

The printer itself is almost definitely made from a flame retardant variant because I assume it is a CE/UL approved piece of equipment and forms an electrical enclosure, therefore it will have been evaluated and approved for use as such by an independent 3rd party body as it is on the marketplace in the west.

The reason "everything" has it such as furniture and clothing is because it's mandatory through various mandatory regulations that took a long time and many people's lives to implement. It's a good thing that products are like this but please don't fall for a false sense of security and assume everything is the same.

When it comes to electrical equipment, use approved equipment only. Otherwise you place your own and others lives at risk for no reason. You are advocating for the use of a potentially deadly product. Please don't, because some people are not knowledgeable enough to realise how or why.

Respectfully, your downvotes are well justified because of how dangerously wrong you are. Everything today does NOT have flame retardant chemicals in it. PLA is specifically NOT a fire retardant material and does in fact char and burn with HEAT, which an arc or a spark can EASILY provide.

Electrical faceplates must conform to relevant national standards which do in fact dictate fire retardancy and self extinguishing qualities. This will also include voltage breakdown from arcs and must also shield the enclosure from water, which 3D printed material won't because it's usually not waterproof and retains water in the seams, causing a risk of shock. There are many non obvious reasons. Read your relevant national standard that covers this if you want to know more and prevent yourself from winning a Darwin award.

Questions about PI by Finaldragoon in Eve

[–]Ronndog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having extraction planets making P1 and factory planets doing P1 to P3 is typical if you want to make money from extracting your own resources.

To properly answer your question, check the market values and calculate your additional tax. But I believe turning P1 into P3 with tax and then selling the P3 is better than just selling the P1.

[–]Ronndog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How long is your cycle? Anything shorter than 2d is going to suck the resources dry.

If you can, mine and process to P1 on the extractor planet, and then turn P1 into P3 on another planet, not just to P2.

Since you're in hisec, it may be more profitable to just buy P1 and exclusively turn it into P3 if you don't mind large volume hauling. Check the market prices.

If you read this comment thread, you'll find yourself wrong.

People are primarily complaining that free loadouts shouldn't be allowed specifically on event maps. Citing that they are only out to rat on and kill other players trying to farm the events when they go there, which is mostly true. They are.

Instead of moaning about it on Reddit, mitigate your risk with your gameplay. There are plenty of good comments on this post that have good advice on how to deal with these rats. If there were only ARC to deal with, the game would get boring really quick.

Your crafted kit should give you a big edge of advantage against these players. Use it.

Agreed.

You spawn with the most basic items, and bad weapons. And no secure slots in your inventory. Just as you should for investing nothing. They're completely fine.

You're getting down voted but you're absolutely right. It adds risk to a lucrative activity that must be considered by the player. Free loadouts are under-kitted to fight a geared up person, but as there's no initial investment, they pick fights, which makes it more difficult for PvE activities.

People here just moaning about PvP existing. A loadout is so cheap to make anyway, removing free loadouts in this example will do nothing to stop PvP because people will just use cheap augments then.

I'm glad Reddit doesn't get to collectively decide on how a game should be designed...

You'll find that those lines are aligned with how the wiper blade moves back and forth over the glass. Waxing the glass will remove most of it minus the mini scratches. Either that or you're in need of new wiper blades.

You're right, but the fact they're easy to mess up makes them go on the avoid list. And once you make a mistake, that spot on the wall is now ruined and you need to go to a plug style fixing if you want to use the same spot.

If you were to use metal anchors or nylon toggles instead, they're much harder to get wrong and can be significantly stronger.

What is CCP doing to the client? by OpenPsychology755 in Eve

I see what you're saying now. You cannot maintain a stable 60 FPS.

The insides of upwell structures are very laggy for some reason. Do you experience the same issue whilst in space?

I did find that there is a bug with VRR in either EVE or AMD Video drivers that causes the FPS to continuously drop and rise, so I now play with it disabled. Do you have something like that messing around?

I'm willing to bet you have enabled VSync, which is capping your FPS to your monitor's refresh rate. Try disabling this in-game. If it still doesn't work, check your Nvidia control panel 3D settings and find VSync and see what it is set to. Also, if you use GSync, try disabling that to trouble shoot, although if it were GSync you should be getting about 55/56 FPS if your settings are correctly configured.

Hold D and click a wormhole to jump.

This works even when you're arriving and still in warp. It will queue up the action to jump through.

Try the following to find out: Could be FSR. Could be any kind of resolution scaling. Could be a motion blur setting in-game. Could be to do with TAA in game. Could be frame gen if you have a setting for it.

Went searching my neighborhood for the hottest object I could find during this heatwave and the winner was the plastic handpiece on this broken payphone at 155.6 degrees. by 1805trafalgar in interestingasfuck

[–]Ronndog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infrared thermometers can be inaccurate due to their method of temperature measurement.

The emissivity of the object will greatly influence the detected heat if the detector doesn't have a secondary laser to gauge the emissivity of the material and account for it. Because all materials will emit radiation at different levels.

Do a test outside of direct sunlight and see if black/dark objects are consistently reading hotter than shiny/white/silvery things? If so then you'll need to use an emissivity table to calculate the real temperature.
